He was unmasked in MK2? WHAAA? I don't recall that happenning unless he performed a fatality, and it's not like you can't put it back on. Sure it came off in his dinky ending, but that's only if he won the tournament, so that never happened.

If you beat the game with Reptile in MK2, the ending storyline pics show him with no mask and he has a raptor's head, I think that is what he is talking about.

In MK2 and UMK3, Reptile had a reptilian head under neat the ninja mask, you could see it when he pulled the mask off for moves like the acid spit or the eating of opponents. So, he has looked reptilian from the beginning. The only thing different in MK4 is they did not have to do a 2D pallet swap with the other ninjas, they just gave him his own, unique model like they did for everyone else. At that point they decided to make him different from the other ninjas, and why the heck not. There is no storyline involved in any of this. Its just a matter of how they crafted the characters look, and thats it.

Until MK4, Reptile's was just a pallet swap, like all the other ninjas. I think that the lizard face was created to make him different.

Reptile looks way cooler in his mask anyway,especially in MK4
