Sorry , no running in this MK game. You have to walk up to them. I wish running would come back :.\.

NOOOOOO!! :(
Overall i gotta say the game is pretty tight, but there are some features i considered classic in the other MKs that arent in this one, such as the running feature. Guess i have to hope that they fix that in Deception. My fav. MK of all time is still MK3U.

In DA you only have a few options to use when spacing with pure movement. You can SSc - side step cancel - by side walking into the background and pressing block. The actual input notations look something like this:

U+blk~blk~blk...etc.

You want to keep a constant rhythm on the blk while you step into the background. To fast and you wont cover any space, to slow and you'll be, uh, to slow. Note, however, that this technique only means shit in a lateral axis.

If you want to SSc into the foreground it's the same theory, but a little bit different execution. Here is some input notation:

d~blk~N, d~blk~N, d~blk~N, etc.

Again, you need to find a rythm when executing. You also need to go neutral in-between the sperate SSc's; unlike SSc'ing into the background where by simply holding U and pressing blk gives you the SSc.

Then you can f~N~d~blk, f~N~d~blk, etc; which creates a "semi" dash, but it's pretty lame. Haven't found much use for it, then agian, I haven't found much use for MKDA period. Also, you can f~N, f~N, f~N, etc. for another method of performing a "semi" dash. Or, f~N~blk, f~N~blk, etc.

These techniques are dependant on character and stance. For instance; Raiden SSc's nicely in Staff while Mavado does well in Hook and Shang in Crane. Remember though, if you get caught blocking in the SSc you can get glitched with a ground pound or similar attack. Eh, whatever, peace.
