The story up to the orignal (MK1) Sub Zero's death is this:

Scorpion was a member of the Shirai Ryu clan, a clan of ninja's founded by Takeda. Takeda was a renegade Lin Kuei ninja who founded the fighting style Ninjitsu.

Sub Zero (MK1) was a member of the Lin Kuei, who originate from China.

In MKM:SZ Quan Chi sets Sub Zero out to find a sacred map, at the same time Quan instructs Scorpion to do the same - w/ each clansman unknowing of the others objective. They both reach the map at the same time, and a fighth ensues. Sub Zero defeats Scorpion and rips out his spine.

Scorpion however, gets revenge in Shang Tsung's Mortal Kombat tournament. He kills Sub Zero but in doing so is trapped as a specter forever. And that's the generally accepted stoy, about the colour of the uniform? I have never heard anything on that.

I heard about the color thing.

People have said Scorpion wears yellow to say Sub-Zero's a coward since yellow is the color of a coward.

I doubt it's true but if could fit into the story easily.

Yeah, the yellow thing is true. I forget where, but it says it in MKI somewhere that Scorpion is yellow just to mock the Lin Kuei. But this is over-written in MK:SZM since Scorpion is also wearing yellow when he is alive and well fighting sub.

Oh so it is true.

I forget if Scorpion's family was killed before his death or after his death. If they were killed before then that could explain him wearing the yellow outfit in MKM:SZ.

Anyone know when they were killed cause it's been a long time since I played MK1 and MKM:SZ.
