...I'm sorry if this topic has come up before, but I've just thought of it now. As you might know, in MKI, MKII, and MK3, there is a pit level. Why would a bunch of carefully laid spikes be there, with a bridge convenientally(sp?) built over it? The Pit II is much easier to explain since it is built over any old rock face, and The Pit 3 is the boss level (which also begs the question - Why does Shao Kahn never take advantage of the home field and uppercut you off the Pit?)

All the pits were intentional death traps. The idea is you can only knock someone into the pit when they are incapacitated. They are there for that reason.

Matt
I thought the pit 3 was retarded. Also other stages had alot of realistic pit potential(realistic-subway)like the rooftop ,streets or bridge could've been similar to subway 'cept with car(obviously).sorry about the ranting ^_^
oh,kwik q about the secret level where u fight smoke ,it has the pit 3 walkway and the background has the battleplan towers .is there a kombat kode to play there 'cause in the booklet there's a pic of Kabal and someone fighting

Yeah, they're intentional.

What's funny though...is who's controlling the Subway? Every human is dead. I can just picture a Baraka like mutant cronie working for Kahn driving that thing around running over earth warriors that fall onto the tracks.

Also, I think that the Well pit in MK4 was better-done than any of the actual in-game stage fatalities! But...why would your opponent bother to throw you into the well if they already won? If they finished you off, there's no point in overkill, and if they didn't, you could just recover and beat them up while they were trying to throw you in. Also, what kind of a well has spikes at the bottom? Do they LIKE drinking bloody water?

Hey, it's Mortal Kombat, where "we've got a guy with things coming out of his hand, we've got another guy that freezes stuff, and then there's a man who as far as I can tell is made of electricity."

Go figure.

Another thing to think of is...why would Baraka kill one of his comrades (the bad guys) when they get thrown on the tracks?

I think the hole in Noob's Dorfen had potential. It could have been a stage kill just for Noob. They could have come up with anything for what is in that hole.

Souls could have ripped you apart or devoured you. Maybe it was a portal to where Noob came from and you would see lot's of shadow demons that just kill you somehow.

Or it could have had spikes all on the sides of the hole going down. So you just keep hitting them and gettng sliced up and then impaled by one eventually.
