Swamplands anyone?

This may have been asked or posted before but since I don't have time to read everything in the archives, I'll take the risk of asking it again

What's the deal with these Swamplands? In the Krypt you have about anything about them: test renders, swamp birds, sketches... and if I'm not mistaken it's never said that they are not in the game. So what about it? *Are* they in the game? If so, could anyone tell me how to unlock them (if it may be helpful, I have the PS2 version).
