As we all know (well, most of you should know) is that the endings you are given when you finished any of the MK games with a given character were "what if?" scenarios. That is, those endings only applied if that character actually won the tournament or beat the bad guy, case depending.
Keeping that mind mid then, and judging by the character's endings when you finish MK: DA, who do you think "won" the MK: DA tournament to continue the story into MK6? Sonya? Sub-Zero? Kung Lao? Bo Rai Cho? Raiden? Maybe even Reptile? (He returns as the Dragon King, that'll be kick arse)
What do you think?

There are three rules for doing scientific research. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.
I think it should be noted here that it's usually several endings coming true, or some endings come only true partially. And some ending consequences come true even though the ending itself never becomes reality. I'll give a few examples before I start making suggestions about a winner in MK:DA.
In MK4, for example, Liu Kang is still the Grand Champion meaning he won the previous tournament. But in his MK3 ending Kung Lao dies. Kung Lao, however, isn't dead, since he appears in MKG and MK:DA. In MK3, Sonya defeats Kano but Kano doesn't die, although this is indicated in her ending (and in his, although the cause of death differs). In Sheeva's ending we see a few hints at the gradual shift from the Shokan from evil to good. This eventually does happen although Sheeva herself is killed later.
Same goes for MK4. Shinnok was defeated by the forces of good (no specific winner is mentioned) but Quan Chi survived, with the amulet, continuing an ending mix-up of Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Raiden became an elder god. So, several endings came out.
As for MK:DA, I doubt Midway already has thought of a winner. A part from MK1 no tournament had a clearly indicated winner. MK2 was interrupted and MK3, as far as we can tell, was won by a combined effort of Liu Kang and Raiden. *If* there is going to be a new champion, the most logical choice would be Kung Lao. But endings such as those of Cyrax and Nitara also make a decent chance of coming out. All in all, despite the interesting hypothetic consequences, I feel that Quan Chi's and Reptile's endings are the least likely to come true.
I think we can safely bet on the return of the Red Dragon as an opponent of the Special Forces and/or the Lin Kuei clan.

As for the topic itself, there wasn't really a tournament. There was the tournament in which Li Mei participated, but that's about it, I think. Though, this is how I think it happened, 'victory' wise:
- Jax Killed Hsu Hao
- Kung Lao killed Shang Tsung
- Mavado killed Kano
- Quan and Shang killed Li Mei
And that's about it, IMO.
On another subject, kinda related to the topic at hand, I think it would be alot better if in MK6 they'de be able to match up ALL the endings, so if we'de finish the game with every character we'de understand how the story ended fully.

I think Kung Lao's ending has the best chance of being real by the way.
1- Kung Lao Killed Shang Tsung. Well, not for nothing Bo Rai Cho thought him the kicks.
2- Drahmins ending could happened, so Quan could be dead, or alive. I dont think any earth-warrior defeated him.
3- In Mavados konquest it says he defeated Kenshi, Sonya and Jax, but they are all alive. Jax escapes to kill Hsu Hao, but Kenshi actually almost die.
In Sonyas ending they tell us that she rescued him (Kenshi), he was hurted from what seemed Hooksword marks, (Mavados weapon), so Kenshi never reached Tsung in time to kill him. So, Sonya saved Kenshi and was promoted General.
4-Kitanas is true, nothing contradicts her ending.

Actually, Sonya DID kill Kano. I remember reading that Kano died, but Motaro caught him and resurrected him with magic, only to suffer punishment by the hands of Kahn for failing to kill Sonya. I THINK, i dont quite remember, I think its in a konquest story.

he fell off the building, into a portal and lived in outworld in prison
and there is no reason why the dragon army cant be revived, it adds more tension, shows us that the heros dont always win, and sets up a good premise for the dragon king in mk6

As for MK4,I believe it was Rayden who defeated Shinnok once more and killed him.

we know that that storyline wont be carried over
all we know for fact is that reptile is the DK
and the kano doesn't have liu's soul
Kung Lao kills Shang Tsung. He'll probably lead the battle against the forces of the Dragon King in MK6.
Shang Tsung completes his task of reviving the lost army but later on, he is killed by Kung Lao.
Bo' Rai Cho of course teaches Kung Lao the moves that he uses to defeat Shang Tsung. He'll probably be around to train other people and/or he might help Kung Lao.
Reptile becomes the Dragon King. He'll probably have many different forms such as a humanoid form, a Dragon form, and possibly the ninja form.
Johnny Cage's ending is not that important, but there might be some "connection" between him and Sonya...or something like that...
Sonya rescues Kenshi and is promoted to general.
Kenshi loses to Mavado and like I said above is rescued by Sonya. He'll probably go after Mavado for revenge, who is trying to destroy Sub-Zero, so we might see a tag team of Sub-Zero and Kenshi.
Hsu Hao is sent by Mavado to kill Shang Tsung.
Jax fights and kills Hsu Hao.
Mavado kills Kano and prepares to fight and destroy Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei.
I seriously doubt that Liu Kang's soul went into Kano's body and then there's the fact that Vogel said that ending won't make it into the MK6 storyline.
Frost betrays Sub-Zero and is frozen by the Dragon Amulet/Medallion.
Sub-Zero unfreezes Frost and carries her back to the Lin Kuei HQ.
Scorpion is sent to the Heavens where it might be possible that he will transform into a different entity.
Raiden warns of oncoming threats in the future.
Cyrax helps Nitara and is sent back to Earthrealm.
Nitara smashes the orb and goes back to her homeworld. (She'll probably group her vampire race to attack Earthrealm, siding along with the Dragon King.)
Li Mei wins the tournament held by the Deadly Alliance and her soul is placed within a warrior of the DK's army.
Blaze is freed and goes back to his quest. (whatever that is)
Mokap....well.....there's not much importance for his storyline
Kitana defeats (not kill) Quan Chi and Quan Chi escapes.
When Quan escapes, he comes across the Oni and they fight him.
Drahmin and Quan Chi go into a strange room together where Drahmin comes out transformed.
(perhaps they merged together and destroy Moloch or Drahmin becomes human while Quan Chi gets stronger and kills Drahmin and Moloch.)
Now I'm not sure about the Konquest mission info completely since I haven't read all of it.

There are three rules for doing scientific research. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.
I also deem it unlikely they will continue the Kano~LiuKang-storyline but we can only guess. Also, making Reptile the DK would be quite daft, although it was an original find.
Have to agree though that resurrecting the DK's army would add more tension to it.

Not all endings happen.
I think it was at fight night, that the dev team said they didn't want to take the story in that direction.
