So obviously, there are a lot of changes and retcons in MK9's story mode, even besides just the stuff Raiden changed on purpose...and there have been dozens of threads devoted to complaining about that. So I thought it would be a nice change of pace, a nice way to generate some interesting discussion, to look at it from a more constructive angle:

I thought it might be interesting to talk about the scenes we imagined in our heads or the preconceptions we had about the events of the original MK1, 2, and 3 before MK9 came out, y'know, based on the comics and bios and endings or if you just thought "well maybe this would happen the same way it did in the movies or cartoons", that sort of thing.

Hmmm....

I seem to have imagined Sub-Zero's cyber-transformation to go differently. Smoke and Sub-Zero return to the Lin Kuei after the MKII events, they find the clan going through the Cyber-Initiative. Then after some talking with the Grandmaster, they decide to GTFO to avoid Cybernization. I'm not sure how exactly Raiden's actions would bring about the switched places of Smoke and Sub-Zero, but I just had the impression that it would go differently for reasons I've yet to know. Smoke escapes, but poor Subby is captured and is forced to go through the cyber-transformation.

I think I remember reading somewhere after the pre-release leakage that most of the Earthrealm Heroes would die. The image in my head (it's a blur, but I'll try retrieving the memory) was that the ill-fated heroes would die fighting their respective arch-enemies or some unstoppable threat in a respectful manner. "Respectful", like a good warrior's death. Something along the lines of participating in a well-fought battle (one that takes a good while), but due to whatever timeline-changing action, they were to die in the end.

Really early on, I thought the Original Sub-Zero wasn't going to die in this new timeline. A bit later, this idea was obliterated. That's all I can remember right now.

Edit: Oh wait... this is the wrong thread for this post ain't it?
