Ultimate Mortal Kombat 2 (Yes, 2, is it possible?)
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 2 (Yes, 2, is it possible?)
I've been thinking about this for a long time. The PC version of MK2 has been out for a long time, and since it's files are sepearated on the hard drive, they are all just a hack away.
For the longest time, I've been wanting to get a team together to add features to this really old game. Maybe call it "Ultimate Mortal Kombat II".
I was thinking of the hack containing better hardware support for new PC's. Possibly a joystick option, MP3 sound, and characters in higher resolution. Make it almost arcade perfect.
In addition to that, maybe add some hidden things. I always wanted to put in an "Ultimate Kombat Kode" in MK2 to unlock Smoke, Jade and Noob on the player select screen.
What I would want to see is this being a PC Version upgrade patch. Meaning you would still have to own the original game, and you can upgrade it with a small upgrade file.
Does anyone think anything like this is possible? Or maybe there already is a hack out there that will let you play as the secret people?

Higher resolution graphics stuck out. Are you thinking about ripping the graphics from the arcade and using them? because you can't simply increase the resolution of 2D graphics and expect them to look better, just smaller.

You'd be better off making a MUGEN game, easier to program that from scratch than trying to reprogram existing games.
I would be truly devastating to convert all the versions of every character from every game including MK4 and making it into one giant game with UMK3's properties. Fix up everything that is broken, and then make it into a makeshift arcade game, and have it added to Mame's game list. =)
I'd be more than willing to help whoever would do the program with specifics on game properties.
Ridiculous Mortal Kombat.
Balancing everyone would be the fun part. It's really a shame that there still isn't (at least that I can find) a nice group of full quality UMK3 sprite rips. If anyone knows, except for that Spanish Bloody Kombat game, if there's some kind of MUGEN game that has everyone from MK3 and such let me know.

Let me and DreemerNJ know when you start, if you know a good way to program characters, we can give you all the info you need on tweaks. It would be best to start with a base for all characters, then tweak them here and there.

No no they are great, I just meant it like "I already got that" and rips of those quality are what I'm looking for. It's a shame they stopped in the middle cause I want everyone possible from all MK games and everyone else I've seen has SNES rips.

This is all really a pipe dream, if we can find someone who can do the MUGEN programming, it'll happen for MUGEN at least.

i just checked it out again, it only has sub-zero, cyrax and stryker from mk3. I thought there were more.
Does anyone know what happend with that MK:Integral mugen. it was supposed to be a remade version of MK2, i had a quick google and it seems it dissappeared!?

Hey folks, forget that about MUGEN, I was a mugen crack for years, and I have a my own MUGEN version with about 250 characters.
You can change and import nearly everthing and Mugen, the Backgrounds, characters, music, even the Fatalitys, but the core fighting engine, wich is a mix between SF2 and KOF cant be change in any way, so you have MK characters with a SF/KOF style gameplay, nothing for serious play, its more a fun fighter.
Here a some pics from my MUGEN:

What.. the.. hell..
Is that playable?!
If so.. where do I go to play it.. if not.. when will it be done.. and furthermore.. I've always wondered if the past MK's could be enhanced with added features and characters and levels. One day, there will be something like that..
Never give up on that project, that's awesome. That has potential to be.. just amazing.

Of course this is playable, but you guys have to understand, MUGEN is not a game, its a fighting game engine that can be changed by the user, there are some MUGEN related games out there, most of them are Dragonball Z crap =)
But those are not games, its just a compilation of backgrounds, music,s and fighters put together.
You can download Mugen on different sites, just use google, but Mugen for itself is nothing, you have to put the backgrounds, fighters, music by yourself into Mugen.
You can find tons of fighters, backgrounds, stage music,s, energybars, titlescreens out there on different Mugen related sites, and create your personal Mugen.
There are some major not so good things about Mugen:
It,s a DOS programm.
It doesnt support 2 Joypads.
Its not very user friendly to input new stuff into Mugen, you have to make that via a .INI file by yourself.
The gameplay is StreetFighter style, and you cant change the core gameplay in any way.

Making a MUGEN game is one thing, getting it into a format where it would be able to be played online is a whole other problem, I would say next to impossible.

holy shit! i want that!... tell me... does it have Haohmaru from Samurai Shodown ???

Yes, but sometimes I am feeling like you dont read my words, this Mugen is not for serious fighting, it has from the gameplay nothing to do with MK and its extremly broken and unbalanced, you can,t play it serious in a 2 player match no way, its more a fun game.
And I dont send it anyone because its 885 MB big.

hehe i`ve got 312 characters... MUGEN RULEZ!!!
Maybe there is a way to chcange the fighting style... but how??

I'd download it, even if its 885 mb large and broken as hell! Anyway you can post it?

How do you think I can "post" it?
I have to "host" it, and I dont think someone has 885 MB Webspace left for this shit, lol.
I can give you some Mugen related sites where you can find some MK fighters and other stuff, the rest you have to do for yourself.
