It's old news too, no? I remember this being mentioned at MKO a few months ago, with Midway saying that MAT3 would have a different genre of games that MK wasn't the same as, or something like that... I'll search around and post the link if I find it.
Found it, posted February 16, 2005. The headline says it all...

When something better than UMK3 comes out, I'll let you all know, because it still hasn't happened yet.

I heard about this a while ago, they should just release one game for PS3 and the others when they come out that is all the old school MK games with netplay. If they don't do it they are really stupid, honestly, just stupid. They are sitting on a REALLY EASY way to make money.

MK, MKII, MK3, UMK3, and MK4. All the final versions, as easy as that, one disc, and with extra stuff, like every commercial ever made, all the interviews, behinds the scenes, stuff like that. A real tip of the hat to the series. The thing is it would take a couple DAYS to do it and they would make so much in return.

Yeah, they really need to do a MK Kollection set. There is so many things they could use as extras. There has to be hours of raw footage laying around from taping the actors and they must have countless concept sketches we've never seen.
MAT3 is dedicated to racing games, most noticably San Francisco Rush The Rock: Alcatraz Edition.
More info can be found at Gamespot:

It would've been great to play the arcade versions of UMK3, and MK4 again. I miss the spiked balls in Reptiles Lair from the arcade.
I've wanted an MK Kompillation since MK3/UMK3.

I'd pay $50 for that without batting an eye. Although it would probably only be $40 or $30, like most old-school compilations coming out these days. This product would be glorious.
