i am getting a stand up UMK3 arcade and i was wonmdering if its possible to modify the software inside the machine. (to add noob saibot as playable character, alternate costumes, stuff like that) and if it is possible, which im sure it is, who knows how to do it or what exactly to do?
i am modding the cabinet on the arcade the way i want it, such as seperating the controls, installing a bigger screen and some other stuff. ill post my blueprints as soon as possible.

u can not mod a mother board to add stuff. u hav to find a wave net board. i think there was a total of 3 made for the chicago area.

2nd.. ded cabinets come with a 25 in monitor RGB. u might fit @ most a 27in.

i hav moded the shit out of mine , to the point where i dont even use the mk cpu boards

pentium 4
512 ram
ati 3-d card
ati tv wonder usb 2.0
happ unversial monitor
custom overla
x arcade internals
x box

so now i get
mk1 2 3 umk and deception in one.

When something better than UMK3 comes out, I'll let you all know, because it still hasn't happened yet.

You won't be able to change anything, but it is theoretically possible. You need special equipment to burn data to rom chips and you have to know how to whipe them, I think it's something like UV light but I wouldn't advise trying it unless you know a professional who can do it. I sent a hacked version of UMK3 (bare bones Noob Saibot (not wavenet) and Human Smoke selectable in place of Shang and Stryker) to someone and they burned it their rom chips and it worked. They have all the equipment though.

You're just going to have to settle for UMK3 arcade lol.

As was mentioned you have the have the equipment to burn the rom chips. It's really not that expensive, you just have to get the device that can burn the right kind of rom chip. Once its burned its pretty much stuck like that for good, but the rom chips aren't too expensive I don't think. I've used parallel port hookups to burn pic processors before (coded in pbasic on a wintel box) but that's the closest thing.

Editting the rom is probably the hardest part because, well, I don't even know where you'd start. Edit them in mame to try it out first I guess.

redsaleen.. im building my own cabinet and i was thinking of a screen at least over 35 inches.

also i heard you can whipe the chips with some kind of magnet combination. its definetly possible to mod the game up it just might to difficult without the equipment the manufacturers had to program the chips.

Kung... who is the guy you helped out with the hacked version? is he on this board? do you think if i paid him he would program my shit with his equipment?

i dont know im kinda hung over and this is to much thinking for me so ill get back with this later
