first off if your gonna be using a controller the xbox360s wired controller use a usb so u can practice on your computer.
its gonna cost a fee for us to use xbox live as well as the premium system to get online unless your like me and plan on buying the HD when umk3 comes got a killer deal on the core system for 210.
my final thought can be good or a bad, mame is not very mainstream and your not going to see alot of players on it but the 360 is huge and is going to bring alot of scrubs that are just gonna play umk cause they can which i think is a good thing the more the better, i think this might be a rebirth of umk3.

I am going to wait until there is a definite competitive base before I buy a 360 since there is no other reason I'd get one, I can afford it but it's the principle of the thing, I always said I'd buy a next gen system just to play UMK3 online but there would have to be competition to be worth it.

I'll be getting UMK along with any other MK to hit live arcade. It really doesn't matter who comes to play this game on Live. Either people who have never played the game before or people that haven't played it in a while won't make them "scubs". Good players will the most of the time will win. Of course you are going to get really bad player, mildly good, and good players. No differance from going to the arcade and some random person fighting you.

There is a chance UMK3 on XBLA will end up being nothing but scrubs, and then its just not worth it. There's really no fun in just beating people that suck.

What I meant was, competition as in more than 50 people playing online at once, if there's only like 25 people on at one time after the first month, there will probably never be much comp on, I don't care if there are scrubs on, playing me, Moe, Thrower, Konqrr, etc, will make them better or quit.

I'm kind of in the same boat as MK2KB, as my decision to buy a 360 basically depends on how UMK3 turns out. So I'll be keeping close tabs on what the legendary figures of Chicago have to say about it. People should ignore just about every major gaming review site, because they won't really know what they're talking about when it comes to game accuracy and all that. They're likely to throw around the term "arcade perfect" rather recklessly, so I'd much rather get opinions from people who actually know what's what.
Oh and if this has the online features of Street Fighter 2 Turbo, it could be absolutely heavenly.

You can bet your rear that i will be playing UMK 3 online. I am not the greatest by any means but I will sure put up a fight! I hope I get a chance to play some of you since my computer can't handle mame.
I'd love to have some one on ones with Kungbroken, Konqrr and Dreamer. I can't say I'll win but it would be good learning!
DarthSub is my live tag. When is this game coming out?

You pc cant handle mame???Was it made in the 80's??lol jk but i feel for ya man,i really do.UMK3 is a awesome game in its own right.I'm not that great either but I'm not the worse by any means,or havent been on mame anyway.
the minute I hear any classic mk's are online, im getting a 360 no matter what. By the responses to this post, it looks like its going to be like a highschool dance where everyone stands against the wall and wont dance until someone else will lol. if u are "going to wait and see how many other people play it" before u do, i can picture 1000 people across the country looking at their 360 screens and saying, im not going to play mk because there arent enough people.......

lol, I like the analogy. Basically I just want to make sure they emulate the game properly. As soon as I know that they didn't mess it up, I am getting right on that dance floor and busting it up.the minute I hear any classic mk's are online, im getting a 360 no matter what. got to back up konqrr oblivion might be one of the best games ive played, watch and see there will be tons of people playing that game xbox 360(umk3) the system is mainstream imagine if they made a new umk3 for the ps2 and made it online when ps2 was at its best. as far as emulation i think itl be perfect only cause they have seemed to enhance the other arcade games they have put on there(smash tv ) lets just hope its not a hacked up buggy carbon copy version of umk3. and frost these are thoughts i have i am not bashing scrubs or defining them theres a thick line between people who post in this forum about competitive umk and the other hundreds of thousands of people who have xbox360,never played umk and will get it just cause they can, and for the record the xbox360 controller is gonna suck for it ps2 controller or sticks are my choice

They could release an arcade quality MKT for PS2 with netplay, and fix all the brokenness in ONE DAY if they have all the graphics and sounds readily available just by replacing the stuff that already exists in MKT for PSX and modifying it to play specifically using PS2's hardware. They could still probably load all the characters into RAM even at full quality.

I hope MS starts to relax their policy on 3rd-party peripherals. I want some good joystick options here. The DOA stick is the only supported joystick that I'm aware of, and it won't be any good without extensive modding to fix the button layout.
Right now I use an X-arcade with console adaptors, but that company hasn't been given 360 development priviledges yet.

When the game will release, it would be a good idea to set up a thread of all the people here who plan to seriously play it online. Also, I hope to see some kind of ranking system, like for mk deception, so we can see the best players in the world (the ranking system of yahoo chess is good too, like a different color for each kind of skills)

I will make the online match making thread into an XBLA thread as the focus, with of course other platforms available as well to discuss.

The ranking system on fighting games is a complete joke. Look how it is with SF2HF on live right now. The top players suck ass (I've played them all several times and beat them many times) and pull the cord every time they lose just so they can claim the fake #1 spot.
It will be the same for UMK3. Rank system will mean jack.

I remember one of the first posts I read about HF on SRK was "The rank system won't mean anything. But everybody will know who the best are."

Will feedback systems apply?
Well, I've already got my 360, and I enjoy it so much, I guess it's too late now. Damn. If it's an arcade perfect version of UMK3 I will get it. It it's the Sega Saturn or Genesis port I will still get it, if it's the SNES port, I won't give them a nickle. But since they're saying it's "arcade perfect" looks like it's a go. I'm betting it will be 800-1200 Market Place Points.
