UMK3 on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox360
2D Kombat Klassics

From the article:
"The spine-pulling, head-popping action will be featured in a collection of several early Mortal Kombat games, but Midway has yet to announce exactly which games from the MK opus will be included."
So it won't be just UMK3. You think they will include MK1, MK2 or MKT? Or even MK4? I guess it won't be MKG since it was Dreamcast exclusive.

It'll be interesting to see how UMK3 plays online (assuming they make it netplayable which even midway would be too stupid not to do...I hope) considering how bad xbox live was with other 2D fighters. CvS2EO and CFE horror stories come to mind.

this is almost perfect if it was mk2 but, ill take it. i was a master at this game as well im very happy and i am going to be playing this one.
They have just changed what I've quoted earlier to this:
"Though Mortal Kombat creative director Ed Boon clearly implied that the franchise will one day appear on next-gen systems, gamers can get a head start on the spine-pulling, head-popping action of the franchise with UMK3."
So it looks like it will be only UMK3.

This should be better for everybody then Kaillera.
And I have to say I am happy to see the first one with netplay be UMK3. It makes sense since it is the closest thing to a tourny worthy MK game.
Now, since this dream is coming true (at a price, buying an XBox 360 D-:) maybe I can start to dream a little bit more.
Perhaps they'll port the wavenet edition? Perhaps Noob will be a playable character with a couple of special moves and there will be some more balancing done to the game?
There are so many small things they could tweak that would add to the overall competative quality of the game. But, even if they just don't do that, the least they could do is use what is supposed to be the more balaned of the UMK3 versions, Wavenet.
And then there is the whole controller thing. Any PSX to XB360 adapters out there for the folks that have invested in good sticks already? Any keyboards for the 360 that allow you to play games like this with the keys? (not a Dreamcast style keyboard that couldn't be mapped to controller buttons and could only be used for standard keyboard activities)?

I am happy that the best MK gets finally offical Online, but now I have to buy a damn Xbox 360 for it lol.
And what kind of Xbox Live account do you will need for UMK3?
The one where you have to pay 15 Bucks for 3 months?
And before we get all to happy, remember MAT2, we can just hope that this time its really "Arcade Perfect".
I have mixed feelings, because I dont trust Midway that the game will be good emulated.
And how will it work with onlineplay?
Only USA or Europe or Worldwide?
Will the pings be better than on Kaillera or maybe even worser?
I hope they put some effort in this, and not make it another MAT shit like.

I've asked around a bit, and it seems that all Midway titles released on XBLA so far have had netplay (Joust, Gauntlet, Robotron, and SmashTV). This bodes well! It'll be interesting to see how UMK3 plays online (assuming they make it netplayable which even midway would be too stupid not to do...I hope)

Well you can have either Silver or gold membership to get UMK3 on Xbox Live arcade. By default you are a silver member(free) if you buy Xbox 360. Silver members have access to marketplace(demos ,trailers ,Liv arcade, gamerpics, and themes, ) and PM friends. You need marketplace points to download live arcade games. Demos and trailers and live arcade demos games are for free, but the real full versions are not. You need to be a goldmember to play online multilplayer and be on leaderboads and more features.
The one where you have to pay 15 Bucks for 3 months?
If I remember correctly $20 for 3 months and $51 for a year
Keep in mind prices are just for the cards you need to buy, not starter kits.
And before we get all to happy, remember MAT2, we can just hope that this time its really "Arcade Perfect".
(kits include headset,and live cards.)

(Same here, the MAT MKs to desent to me,still UMK3 online I'm sold)
And how will it work with onlineplay? Hopefully like the upcoming Live arcade release of Super Fighter 2.
Only USA or Europe or Worldwide?
I think for the most part Live is world wide. There might be games that only for a certain region. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/memberships/ Note you need a broadband connection to access Live .Also you will need a storage device(if you get the Xbox 360 core): the harddrive($99), I am not 100%sure about the memory card unit which is $50. I am sure that when all buy their 360s you will have a 30 day trial of gold membership. Be carefull though if it is like the 1st Xbox Live trial choose a gamertag that you want for a while, but I think once the trial expires that gamer tag is lost. If you deside to get gold you'll have to create a new screen name.
