Hi all

Is there an emulated version (MAME) of this game? I heard that you can play with Noob Saibot in it.

I forget who said that. I'm sure they'll chime in here. And, as redsaleen said, it hasn't been emued. I imagine it would be difficult since I'm told it has to be running a wavenet game to use the updated version of UMK3. If you are just playing normally its plain old UMK3. That would probably make for some very difficult emulating.

Trynax claims he has it and can access the Wavenet version, I don't know how, I'm sure there'd be a way to fool it, but I don't know.

On a similar note, I saw that they recently emulated an older revision of UMK3. I forget the exact number but I think it was 1.1... it was somewhere "between" the first version on mame and the final version. So far I am aware of 3 versions of UMK3, plus the WaveNet version. In general, what changes did UMK3 go through between versions?

For one thing the infinite play bug that let you beat the game, do your mercy or whatever on ermac, and be booted back to the select screen or tower screen or something.

As far as I know the only UMK3 versions emulated are 1.1 and 1.2, I have never seen another version.

The only thing I know of that they changed is that Mercy no animality bug on an endurance treasure.

They still didn't fix the time over free game/gamecrasher glitch though.

Another change I know of is the Kahn's treasures. Originally you could get all 12 by beating it on the hardest tower. On 1.2 you only get 11. You have to beat an 8 man tournament to get access to Supreme Demo. Also the "reset hidden characters" option in utilities isn't in 1.1

I double checked... it was version 1.0 of UMK3 that just got added. Looks like it was just added in MAME version .91, which is pretty recent.

i tested this version and notice some things:

1. the info that if noob is freezed or touch sub-zero's clone will freeze the game are not true:

2. Scorpion's spear does not appear vs Shao Kahn (i think it works also on Human Smoke)

3. After beating the game on Master tower you can select all 12 boxes and if you press right one more time when you are on the 12th box, the mk coin will move again to tournament outcome but it will be not under the box:

I notice also that the charcters float really high after uppercut combos. I played the game only once so i'm sure there are more stuff. Anyway this is not the wavenet version :/

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Wavenet versions were simply Umk3 machines hooked up to a T1 line. This allowed players at different arcades to fight eachother! It was most likely only available in Chicago area arcades, and whether it was an actual different version of the game is beyond me... Thats all I could get out of Lex.grin
