In MK1 the ninjas used cloth to cover their face. After that they used a face plate. Personally I hate the face plate look. Do you think it would hurt the ninja characters if they had the simple MK1 look again?
Your Ideas are good, but I think that no one wants to see pallete swaps again in MK.
I am hope that you can make characters like old ninjas in MKA, with that custom character mode.

I don't think it will "hurt them", but they will lose some of their individuality that they've had since they got rid of the palette swaps.
I always liked the simple MK1 style, even the MK2 ones looked good, then they started going abit weird.
Although if you like the simple look, but still like to differentiate them, you could have one like the MK1 style, another with a wider sash that wraps right around (similar to the action figures that were release a while back). etc.
It'd be nice if they had them for the KAK mode.
