Hsu Hao's name was originally going to be Kublai Khan, but some people actually believed that he was/had some connection to Shao Kahn. And I hope you guys don't think that Hsu Hao is chinese, because he is mongolian.

okay this is my first post...so if its aload of poop,then dont come down on me like a tonne of bricks....please .I kinda thought that maybe hsu hao was originally intended to b khan BECause!
1]much of the earlier text refers to khan as being weakened,not dead.Its only in the latter konquests that they confirm khan is dead.There does seem to b alot of confusion as to whether he is still alive or not in the earlier part of the game so maybe they decided later on that it may b too complex for three different forces...not to mention a fourth in the dragon king.So scrapped him.
2]hsu hao has a cybernetic hearty type thingy-ma-bob in his chest.This may hav orignially been intended to b the object that kept Shao Khan alive, after his near fatal beating from the alliance.It has more reason to b in shao khan than in hsu hao....where...it kinda doesnt hav any reason to b there
3]hsu hao is big bald 'built like a brick sh*t house' kinda guy.Many of hao's moves resemble the type of hard blows khan would have been expected to perform.ESPECIALLy the special moves...who else would b powerful enough to blow an opponent back by just clapping?
4]in the opening credits we see khan had his own character select screen picture as well.
I am guessing they scrapped khan because things would hav been to complicated with him around and with him there it would hav kinda underminded the dealy alliance...so maybe they just fused him with the weak idea for a character,'kublai khan', not literally,jus gave hsu hao khan's moves and stuff.Anyways...its jus an opinion

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to say, but Hsu Hao and Shao Kahn aren't the same person if that's what you were trying to say. Hsu Hao is a human while Shao Kahn is a completely different entity. I don't really see any connection to Shao Kahn.

Sub-Zero_7th already said it. Hsu Hao's beta version name was Kublai Khan, but they changed it later. That's it. He isn't Shao Kahn and he was never supposed to be him.
