what are watchdogs?

In mk2 there is a counter in the game audits that says "watchdogs", what does this mean?

Watchdogs keeps track of how many times you go into the factory settings and stuff like that.

thanks. are "kano morphs" still officially just a tease by Boon and whoever made mk2? or does someone believe there is a way to do it?
