What film was the coloured ninja from?

I read long ago that the idea for different coloured Ninjas in MK1 came from some old Kung Fu movie. Does anyone know what it was?

On a side note, did you know one of the main characters in the Kung Fu film 'Tiger & Crane Fists' is called Liu Kang? This film was made in the 1976 and alos featured someone that threw a claw on a chain to grab and pull back enemies from long range. Reminded me of Scorpion's spear.

Tiger & Crane Fists is te move they used in Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.

yea i got kung pow very funny film and i didnt know all that bout tiger and crane fists though bout liu kang i knew bout the claw cuz its in kung pow and no i dont know wot that movie was with the ninja
