Sonya fought Kano, Scorpion fought Subzero (and killed him), Lui Kang fought Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage fought Reptile (You forgot about Reptile) And Raiden didn't really fight anyone, except for Shang Tsung when he tried to cheat in the Earthrealm tournament.

But that cant be right because you missed out Goro and if someone wins they'd advance so it'd look like:

-Lui Kang vs. Sonya
-Cage vs. Scorpion

Yeah you're right about Reptile but i dont think he was part of the tournament he was just protecting Shang so maybe he had a fight with Cage but outside the tournament

Cheers for the reply but every game and film seems not to know what a tournament is, you beat someone and advance in this respect the first film was a huge mess - it made no sense, in actual fact Cage won mortal kombat in the film by beating Goro by Sonya dropped out? Where's the quarters, semis and final?

I don't think Goro actually fought in the tournament itself. He was the Champion, he only fought the last fighter...who ended up being Liu Kang. Johnny Cage did not beat Goro. That was just the movie.

I would guess Sonya fought Kano...but I don't think she won. Remember, Shang Tsung forced Sonya to fight because he held her Special Forces team prisoner. If she lost, they'd be executed. Since they were killed, Sonya therefore was eliminated from the tournament.

Afterward, I can see Johnny Cage eliminating Kano and then eventually being eliminated by Liu Kang. I also think Raiden fought Liu to test him...seeing if he was truly the Chosen One.

According to the MKII comic, which is canon, Scorpion and Sub-Zero didn't have their fight until after the tournament....which I never agreed with personally.
