A sweep is when you hold away + LK. Sweep Distance is often used in fatalities as a judge of distance from your opponent. Usually when they say (sweep) after they give the button hits to do a fatality they mean the fatality must be performed at a distance from your opponent about equal to the maximum distance you can get a sweep at, or just beyond that. Basically, it means you can't be up close to your opponent and you can't be a half screen distance away.
