Are there any differences? I used to own MKT original but now I have the greatest hits.

And I was playing it on my PS2 and after I beat Shao Kahn it went to a black screen and played music but kinda frozeup... is this a PS1-only title basically?

No one cared enough to make sure all PSX games could be 100% playable on PS2. It's sad how MKT was one of those games.

The major difference between buggy MKT and GH (there are orange label MKTs that aren't the buggy version by the way) is gravity. The amount of time it takes for a character to hit the ground when being juggled, and how high they bounce is at least 20% greater in Buggy MKT. There is a specific infinite that was fixed, Noob Saibot's juggle and slam inf. There were a bunch of other 100%s and infs that shouldn't be possible that were fixed by correcting the gravity. An infinite was also created in the process, Rain's HP RoundHouse juggle.

First of all: Where can I obtain this orange label!? Must have it!

Second: That's pretty cool, Mk2Kungbroken, I mean I used to think that all Greatest hits came out (The game itself)to be prefect to the original? Cool. How the hell did you find this out?

I have an orange labeled MKT that is just like Greatest Hits, which has a silver label. The original version of the game, the broken one, also has an orange label. I learn through experience.

There were three versions of Mortal Kombat Trilogy released for the Playstation:

Original Version - Featured tons of bugs, which in a way made the game more interesting.

2nd version(the disc is orange) - Most of the bugs were taken out which made the game truly play more like the arcade though there were still a few bugs.

Greatest Hits versions - All of the bugs were fixed, but there are some bugs that weren't in the other two versons that made some characters more unbalanced.(combo glitches, etc.). This was the final Mortal Kombat Trilogy version Midway released.

And I believe someone told me that the PC version of Trilogy was ported from the buggy version of PSX MKT. Is this right?

Yes, there are differences between all three Playstation versions. Though one thing never changed, the stages had a much wider floor than the arcade version(s).

From what I have found there isn't really any difference in how they run on the PS2 in that they all run bad.

Yeah, I have that same problem of it hitting a black screen and freezing up when you beat the game. Its really annoying not to get the rewards at the end.

I was hoping someone would acutally know of a way to fix this, hehe... dang. :/

Yeah I kinda wish someone had come up with a patch or something that could be applied to an ISO and burned for a PS2 to use but that would probably be extremely complicated, especially since you can just go buy a PSone to use.
