I don't think it was ever clearly stated in which game Edenia became its own realm again.

Was it after MK3, when Liu defeated Kahn? Did he free Earth and In turn Edenia was freed?

Or was it after MK4? In liu's ending, Kitana tells him that by stopping shinnok, he saved Edenia. Does that mean it was separted from outworld, or that It was already its own realm and he just freed it from shinnoks rule.

I've been racking my brain about it and IMO it seems to make more sense if Edenia was freed during or after MK4.

After Kahn's defeat, the Resistance of Outworld, led by Queen Sindel and Princess Kitana, rise to become the super power of the realm. Kahn's army is still very much alive as the battle for total control of the outworld is still being fought. In an attemp to locate allies in this struggle the resistance sends scouts into other realms, which would lead into MK4.
