Yeah, it's probably fanon. I only ever recall "Meat" being mentioned in the cheat.

Oddly, I remember an MK II rumor of a "Meat" character.

I'm guessing his name, like his character, was a lame joke. Get it "Meat"? He's a skeleton. No skin. Meat. *cue drum beats*

Meat was coined by Ed Boon on his old MK4 site.

In one of the Chicago betas for revision 3 there was a glitch in 2 on 2 Kombat where if you picked Scorpion and Sub-Zero one of your characters would be the bloody skeleton model. Midway decided to put it in as an actual secret for beating Group Mode. Right before Revision 3 was going to ship nation wide Boon put a picture of the skeleton with the caption "Meat Lives!" to hype the update. That's why everyone started calling him that.

yeah the remark "Meat Lives!" was posted just before rev 3.0 and probably it has something to do with a glitch that was discovered in Version 2.92 with two scorpions/sub-zeros. but still the fans give him this name

i think he got it from shao kahn but he is a piece of crap.
