they both are using Liu Kang model, and both dont have any part in the gameplay, just statistic for the background like Shadow Priests in Portal or Tower...

I assume the guy on fire is Blaze from MK:DA. In Deception, Blaze is always walking around by a bridge that looks like a 3-D version of the Pit II. And Blaze is a guy on fire, so it makes sense.

actually the players called the fire man from mk2 - torch, but yes, maybe midway inspired from the idea and created blaze in mkda, just like ermac in umk3.

Yup it is all just theory at this point. Unless there is some line where Blaze is like "by the way, I fought Liu Kang in green pants in MKII" we can't really know for sure.

Everyone dubbed them Torch, and Hornbunckle.

Actually the two characters in the Pit II backround have, and haven't been given full names, but players have. But here's the truth.

The guy on fire is of course the one of the two that was named later on in MKDA, and we now know him fully as Blaze. Long before MKDA the fans dubbed him Torch, or Inferno.

The Liu Kang look a like was dubbed by many fans as Hornbuckle because of a vicious lie in a popular gaming magazine that said you can either fight/play as him by doing certain methods. However, if anyone ever read the bio in the comic from Midway from MK1, or the instruction manuals of the games for home systmes, everyone would learn that Liu Kang had a twin brother named Chow Kang, and not Chan like in the movie. His name was Chow Kang, and his whereabouts were unknown. That is why the other fighter in the Pit II backround has to be really named Chow Kang.

Its 2 Liu Kangs OMFG, cause liu kang can shoot a fire ball remember...so he caught the other 1 on fire.....D O H...
and in MK3 that is cyrax in the sand...

The green panted guy is one of Onagas followers and tries to capture Blaze, in which he succeeds later. The flaming guy is Blaze. This was stated by Boon i think or one of the others. Ask Gavok, or look at his MK faq
