I kee hearing people talk about sound problems. Is this so?

only thing I've heard is it's noticeably faster than the arcade, and you CANNOT change the buttong config.

got it yesterday. I just made a thread about this.
It's alittle faster. I didn't really notice sound issues, but I wasn't paying attention because....
dum dee dum dum dum
THE CONTROL IS HORRIBLE.
D-pad responsiveness is atrocious. If you are walking forward, and want to jump, if you rotate your thumb on the d-pad from forward to forward+up, about 50% of the time it doesn't register. Then you have to completely let go of the d-pad, and then re-press forward+up. I have had this problem on MAME before, but I thought they would have worked it out for the release version on PS2.
Also deception is WAY overrated. The graphics and stages are beautiful. Puzzle kombat is awesome, chess kombat is decent.
The fighting system is just an overall dissapointment though, at least to me.
Also, it is glitch-filled like no other, but that's what you get for buying a V.1 Mortal Kombat game.

Also, problems that pop up on Mame pop on the collectors disc as well.
One such problem is scrolling (Something all emulators have trouble with). Most noticeably, when the game scrolls down the "battle plan" screen, it is very choppy and jumpy instead of smoothly scrolling down.

I got it yesterday as well. There are just two minor or major (whichever way you look at it) differences from the original arcade version:
1. The Palace Gates's music is VERY low. So low you can hardly hear it. I'm disappointed a lot in that because The Palace Gates has the coolest music in MK1 arcade.
2. The smack sound you hear when you connect with jump kicks, roundhouses, and uppercuts is noticable, but not as loud as it should be. I personally like that sound effect.
Other than those two differences, the game is indeed arcade perfect. But the thing is it seems like they ported it over instead of emulating it so that they could concentrate on Deception (which by the way is a GREAT game, expect a review sooner or later). I believe they should've kept it on MAT2 so that it could be properly emulated, and we'd have a true arcade version. But the game itself runs VERY smoothly at a nice 60 fps.

My version of MK1 on X-Box does have some music problems. Every once in a while the music skips, or pauses for a slight second. This happens everywhere on the game. One thing I was disappointed with the MK1 disc is some of the sound effects are not arcade perfect, and the picture isn't arcade perfect either. Look hard at it, and you can tell it isn't. Look at the blood. The color difference clearly stands out. In my opinion on the MK1 game it is about 98% identical to the actual arcade. The picture, and some of the sound effects are way off from the arcade. Other than that, it is pretty cool.

I think it totally sucks as Mame version runs even closer to the arcade than this "limited-edition" console release.
I'll just stick with Mame from now on, arcade can't get any realer than it originally is. I mean, the kreators themselves ported the original project from their studio, but the game still doesn't meet the coin-op requirements for me to be considerated.

''Arcade Perfect'' my ass, the game has got MAJOR sound issues! So I'm just going to stick with MAME as well. I would like just like to know how they could even release this and call it done. And better yet, how they could release it and say that it is ''Arcade Perfect.'' Such a joke. Midway should be sued for false advertisement.

You people bitch too much. I've got the Xbox version and I have had zero problems with the controls. The music cutting in and out is the only real problem I've noticed, but I can live with that.

Here's another problem with the game when you beat the game and it goes through the Shang Tsung death animation and then the ending music starts playing when Shang Tsung falls. Well when the cast of characters flip out right after that part the ending music just stops when goro comes down and they say who designed him and everything. And the ending music never does come back on even for the credits just silence "Weird".

Exactly! They did say "Arcade Perfect" and it is no where near to the arcade. The picture is fuzzy, and the music skips. Sub-Zero's Freeze doesn' t even sound like it does in arcade or mame. They also should have had options to make the music louder because I can barely hear any of the music. When they said "arcade perfect" we were expecting an exact duplicate and nothing less because it was supposed to be a ROM. We got a close to, but not exact version of the arcade. This frightens me about what MKII, and MK3 will look, and sound like on Midway Arcade Treasures 2!!

- The control is good IMO, its also quicker then on MAME
- there is problems with the sound sometimes the music stop or there is no music at all
do anybody know if we can fight Reptile in this version of MK1?

I have the PS2 version.
It gets a 9 out of 10 in my book. This is considering the SNES version would get a 2.5/10 and Genesis would get a 1/10 and Sega CD a 4/10. So yeah, it is BY FAR the best home version yet!
The few things that get to me:
-In the 2nd arena (the one with the buddha dude in the back), the music is almost completely muted.
-When the blood hits the ground, it sounds a LITTLE like the arcade, but mostly not.
-Slowdown during SOME endurance rounds. Lots of slowdown and music cut-outs after you beat the game- but totally easy to deal with (And i am usually really picky).
THE MAJOR THING THAT GETS TO ME IS THIS:
Sub-Zero's Freeze sounds nothing like that chilling sound we all are used to in the arcade version! DAMMIT!
Whatever. Its a great game nontheless. I cant fucking wait for MAT2. And hopefully MAT3 (with Killer Instinct 1&2, MK4, and UMK3- this is all hopeful! Maybe they could throw in some 4 player adventures like Simpsons Arcade or TMNT- i doubt it tho cuz they arent midway).

By the way, the PS2 control is great. Really tight and responsive.
However, it's not as satisfying as pulling off an uppercut with the original arcade joystick.

Any codes for an option screen?
Nope, there are no codes though it is weird there is no options screen considering Mk2 and MK3 in MAT2 has the original DIP switches to configure settings like difficulty, etc.(though it is in a nicer looking menu in MAT2 than the original arcade versions).
If you want to play the original TMNT arcade, go buy TMNT II for PS2, GC, PC, or X-Box.
And other than the absence of dipswitches and slight sound altering, there is no difference between this and the arcade. I just walked over to my local arcade directly after playing it on PS2. This "music skipping" or slowdown doesn't even happen. If it happens on yours, you should think about cleaning your system.
Also, did you know (at least on the PS2 version), after the game has loaded, you can play it as long as you wish without the disc in?
