I know it was a legal reason that I can't remember, can you jog my memory?

Here's what happened:
...Cage actor Daniel Pesina was fired by Midway for posing in his Johnny Cage outfit in an advertisement for the game "Bloodstorm"? The accompanying text read something along the lines of "Even Mortal Kombat's Johnny Cage has turned to Bloodstorm."
Courtesy of "Ruins of Outerworld"
Anyway!
MK3, UMK3 I guess they decided to KEEP him killed off. But as they released MKT, they decided to get another guy to play Johnny. Makes you wonder, they couldn't have used the sprites from MK2 cause they fired that guy, but they are allowed to in MK2 on MAC2?

Well, Johnny Cage not being in MK3 probably had nothing to do with the actual actor not being able to play him, and everything to do with the storyline of him being claimed dead. Whether they made that up or not after the fact is inconsequential because if they absolutely wanted him to be in it, they would have just asked John Turk or someone to do it.

In the story Johnny Cage gets killed by Shao Kahn, also like in the movie MK: anailation (which wasnt that great). He gets resurected by the elder gods just before the fourth Mortal Kombat

MK:Abominations never happened, it was a figment of many peoples' imaginations. Somehow a lot of people tell the same story of seeing a second MK2 movie, even their friends who don't like MK say they saw it as well. Personally, I never saw it...so I don't believe it happened, just like all those hidden characters in the older games. =)

Not a bad view. But I still think the game would have sucked.

We just don't like people to be misinformed. We went through it a million times already as it was happening, so now we feel there is the chance to prevent further people who want to get into MK from learning the wrong stuff.

Has anyone here played Blood Storm. I played the first game Time killers and it really sucked. Blood Storm was part two to time killers.

I just played Bloodstorm, and man is it terrible. A really bad combination of MK and SF.

Problem with Turk doing it would be that he would look too much like Sub-Zero

Well Turk or no Turk, MK3 proved that they don't write the storyline based on an actor's availability. Liu Kang, Kitana, and Shang Tsung were all played by different people. So Dan Pesina getting the boot obviously has nothing to do with his absence from MK3.

John Turk plays Sub, Shang, and all the ninjas. All they would have to do is change his skin color, give him a brown wig and the sun glasses on at all times, like they did in MKT. It's really easy to disguise someone's identity. Granted it would have been a cheap way of doing it, but they could have just hired another actor like they did for Liu Kang. All of these things are probably reasons why they made the step to 3D rendered characters.

Well they DID hire a dude for MKT, so yeah, I think they solved the problem.

Believe it or not, the actor who played Johnny Cage in MKT is the same actor who played him in the 2nd movie.

Chris Conrad = MKA Johnny Cage
Chris Alexander = MKT Johnny Cage
What the hell, they don't even look the same.
