In accordance with MK5.org's rules concerning the topic of ROM's and emulation, any legal comments are fine, any posting of links or information on how to obtain a ROM is prohibited.

So let me get the legal stuff out of the way...

You may be familiar with ROM's. Most sites have a clear warning that if you do not own the original cart (or CD, or arcade board) of a game, you must delete your ROM image within 24 hours.

So, if you don't own the game on SNES, you must delete your ROM image in 24 hours.

However, with any MK game the rules are different. Any and all MK games are under ISDA protection. What does that mean? That means there no can NO distribution of any ROM image what so ever with this game, whether you own the original cart or not.

In short, unless you can rip your copy of the game onto your computer yourself, you shouldn't read any further.

Hence, any person caught distributing any MK ROM image is subject to maximum fines and penelties from Midway, as well as from Nintendo.

So if you don't have it, don't post asking where you can get it. I can't help you.

Now.. for those of you lucky enough to be able to rip the game yourself, what do you say to a little friendly MKII online action?

You will need the ZSNES emulator first off. It has a built in connection device that allows computers to link up via IP. You MUST be running the same version so I suggest you all get the newest one. I'm not sure how posting the web site to ZSNES would fly, so I'm not going to. It should not be hard to find on Google though.

If I'm not mistaken, only one person in the two way connection needs the ROM image. So in a way, it's just like going over to your friend's house and popping in your controller to play his copy of the game.

This of course does have one drawback though. Internet connection speed. Since only one person has to have the game, if the "2nd player" is on dial-up, the connection will not be that great for either player.

Last thing I wanted to say is, it's not a smart move to go throwing out your IP addy. Make sure that you A) Do it through PM's. And B) can trust the person.

If I get enough people interested in this I wouldn't mind setting up a tournament for us all. I hope everything I posted here is cool with the mods, it should be as nothing illegal would be taking place. So, what do you all say?

Yeah they are, but it's not fun to play against me because of the lag problem. Thanks for all your help danadbab on the lag, it helped, but it didn't fix it all the way. Oh well. If I do fix it, I'll play you ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!!!tongue

Well I'm glad to see you guys can get use out of it. Unfortunately, when I tried to run MKII on MAME it was extremely choppy. Kind of odd, since MK I and II are the only arcade games I treid that ran choppy =/

I would probably need the new MAME as well, I don't think the version I have has a option for online play. I just chose ZSNES because it was easy to connect =P
