Would you be for or opposed a pre-MK1 MK game?

I've been thinking how rich the past of the MK tournament is and also how under-used.

For example the first MK game was the tenth MK tournament between Outworld and Earth. And before the MK tournaments between Outworld and Earth there were MK tournaments between Edenia and Shao Kahn's homeworld (unless Shao Kahn cheated and took Edenia over illegally without a MK tournament, but i doubt that with the Elder Gods watching).
And even before the MK there was a war between Raiden and Shinnok.

So what do you think about a MK game (true MK,..so nothing like Mythologies or other spinn-offs) that plays before the original MK game?
For example the MK in which the original Kung Lao defeated Shang Tsung?
Or a MK between Edenia-Shao Kahn or two completely new realms (so no Earth)?
Or if you really want to go into the past a MK between two factions of Elder Gods during the Rayden-Shinnok war (you could call this Immortal Kombat wink )?

I for one think this would be a good idea/twist. It would give the team a chance to go into different fresh directions with an all-new cast and all new settings. And also to broaden the MK story (there is no reason to limit MK only to Earth or to the current time-line).

Personally, I don't really like this idea.

First, if they had a whole new cast of characters, everyone would complain that they don't have there favorite character in the game.

Second, there's been so many contiued games of the Mortal Kombat series, that (most) people wouldn't want to go to a prequel game.

But, it would be kind of interesting to have a prequel story. That's one thing I would like about a prequel. But instead of making it a game, why not make into a book or something?

I personally wouldnt want a prequel game. Firstly the characters would probably be different. Maybe the ones that could be in there are Shang, and Goro. But the rest of the cast would probably be different. Also i would rather have the story evolve and continue with more sequels than having to go to the past.

You guys are right about that.
The story should indeed evolve into the future.

But i still think such a game would be succesfull.
The character cast wouldn't be that much of a problem. There still would be recognition.
For example the MK game with the originial Kung Lao would have for starter the original Kung Lao, the younger version of Shang Tsung, maybe a father or older brother of Lui Kang, a previous member of the Lin Kuei (maybe elderly related to Sub Zero or even the Grand Master himself), a clanmember of the Shirai Ryu (maybe elder related to Scorpion or the founder Takeda himself), Taja and Siro from MK Conquest etc etc. You could even have Kitana (she already is around for a few hundreds years)

It would be quite old-school. But also a bit unnecessary (since the outcome is already known).
Would still be a cool mythologies game.
In these cases you can clearly see how deep the MK Mythology really is. I'd love to see an official book about the past stories of MK (but only if it's written by John Tobias himself wink ).

It would've been a good idea until the whole MK Conquest TV show turned me off to the concept of pre MK1 storylines and characters.

I kinda like prequels but for MK, I think I'd prefer a redo, like an up to date game that retold the whole story from MK1 to MKT.
