Thanks for the props! I'm Paul, one of the two webmasters of the PMK site. Be sure to check back later today since the GBA poll will end, and people will be able to vote for their favorite GameGear MK game.

thanx man, I appreciate the compliment. (I'm the other guy for PMK). and yeah... MK2 on the Game Gear kicks ass. Some new fatals are in it that arn't in the consoles as well... (don't worry tho, the fatals n the consoles r still better), but I think Jax's super slam fatal is nice.

I have question ... does anybody know why MK1 on the gamegear is not complete (they are missing kano) I first thought it was a memory problem.. but then I bought MK2 and it has 8 fighters!
so.. why didn't they put Kano in it ?
btw.. same goes for the GameBoy version!

In MK1 and 2, the fighters are not static when standing as they are in MK3 and 4. In other words, they do their swaying thing. This takes up a lot of frames. MK1 has the most animation out of all of the portables. And remember that MK1 was an early game (made in '92). Back then, they were just tapping into the potential of the portable systems. Or it could be programer laziness

I think it's programer laziness...because the only had to put in 1 extra fighter..
and gamegear is possible of doing 11 fighters..
anywayz.. I'm still pretty glad with mk2 on my gamegear .. it's much better then the mk2 version on gameboy (the gg version has so much more animations!!)

If you want the BEST portable MK experience, I'd recommend getting a Sega Nomad and any of the MK games for Genesis. Sure, that thing may be expensive and slightly larger than the gamegear, but that is as close to arcade MK action you'll get with a portable.

do you have any screenshot of MK running on a NOMAD ? because I kind find them on the internet.. and I really want to see them!

The Nomad is basically just a portable version of the genesis. That is why you use genesis cartridges for it. The games should look just as they do when you play a genesis on your tv. I think the only place you can get a Nomad now is ebay.

nah.. I'm going to buy one at Replay (it's a dutch videogame store.. they are still selling brand new Atari 2600 games and much more retro stuff)

yeah, Kano was in the GB version, but not the GG version.
I C... anybody else remebered how lame GB's MK1 Fatalities were??? Damn, Kano had something like he scrolled forward and just gave a spinning back kick to the opponent who flew up like it was an uppercut and landed... man... those were the days...

yeah, the fatals sucked. check out my site (in my sig), or Click Here to go straight to the MK1/Game Boy section. click on any character and it has screenshots of their fatalities.
the best on the GB I think was Rayden's tho. Scorpion's looked alright as well (the toasty).

yeah I been had my Game Gear since my older bro's senior year in 95-96, and I bought MKII last year and it's a good Game gear game and I talked to the Serpent and asked him how good it was and so that inspired me to get it about a year ago, so last night I bought MK1 off of ebay, but my GG screen is very dirty so I'm gonna have to buy a replacement screen.
