You know what exactly was the reason behind the retconning of Scorpions vow and Cage never dying?

Now some retcons benefit characters (retconning Raiden from being an evil god to the protector of Earth), but Scorpion and Cage's retcons really took things away from their character. What I want to know is, does anyone know why they were retconned?

To me, there was absolutely no reason for these 2 retcons. I mean Scorpion being after Sub-Zero again in MK4 could've easily been explained by saying that "Quan Chi told Scorpion that Sub-Zero took part in killing his family causing Scorpion to break his vow to protect." but no, they just say it never happened.

And Johnny Cage never dying, why? Johnny Cage has the weakest story of all the characters and this added to it, so I don't understand this one AT ALL. Does anyone know?

The entire Johnny cage Scorpion thing is basically based on the fans. By popular demand maybe people wanted Johnny Cage back & they didn't want Scorpion to kill Sub-Zero. Think of it this way, would you want Sub-Zero to die?grinwink
^um.... Johnny Cage came back in MK4 and it was explained that Raiden brought him back to life, but in Deadly Alliance, they said it never happened in the first place and the vow was Scorpion vowing to "protect" Sub-Zero not kill him. Oh and the majority of fans don't like these two retcons.

it was excused with the bad script. I kinda like this retcon, makes you feel that the MK games storylines had more to it in the background, and it gives a sense to Cage's dying (The Death of Johnny Cage)

johnny cages death seemingly was forgotten with the ashes of the dreadful mk4, which is still bloody stupid, it could have atleast mention his death and ressurection as a foot-note.

scorpions story seemingly changed to give rise to beliefs that he had found his familys true murderer, (u think hed be pissed off about dieing tho and being a spectre because of the lin-kuei) and besides, sub-zero is just as, if not, more popular than scorpion himself.
