ive prolly said this on here before, but i used to be a SSF2T player, but one day this kid came into the arcade and started playin UMK3. then everyone jumped off the SF machine and ran to MK watchin this kid cuz he was so good. all the people at the arcade that called themselves "the best" started gettin stomped by him, 1 by 1 he beat every single challenger then i stepped up, being only about 10 yrs old he just laughed and said let me show you some stuff so you can beat me next time i come here, he was like 5 years older than me so u know, lookin out for the younglins.
he showed me all of Kano's moves, combos and fatalitys. i practiced and got real good and waited for him to come back.....

well i wish there was some magical happy disney ending to the story but no... he never came back in, well anyways i still play MK over sF to this day

one of the many memories

Well,I wasn't born when the arcades were in for Mk1,2,3,Umk,Trilogy,Mythologiesz(was the last one in the arcades?)I got a SNES with Mk1,2 and 3 when I was 2,so i didn't have Mk4 at the time. For some odd reason,I liked Mk4 the best when I was 2wow.My parents would always take me to the arcades to play it.After that,I got a PlayStation with Mkt and Mk4.I still had my SNES,but forgot all about it with the Ps1.I had them for about...5 more yeaes and Ps1 broke and I gave my SNES to my uncle.I regret it SO much!Luckily I still had MkT and Mk4 on Ps1,so when I got the Ps2,I could play them again! Then,I got MAT2 and the Deception Premium Pack. It's like the old days now

well all good memories are almost are the same for everyone, and of same impotrance, I list my negative experience with MK.

Trilogy: a friggin' disgrace. After I bought the original MK3 and got a pirate copy of the full MKT, I was dissapointed. All of the new characters were a joke. Ninja swaps, great God, I immediatly ot the answer for the problems ahead of me: COMMERCIAL MANOUVER.

Well, I could have gotten over the suckhead characters (gicve it up for Rain and the unbalanced bosses-though they were meant to be unbalanced), have it not been the glitchfest engine. Noobs disabler cloud is abusive, not to mention the ability to harvest anyone with Ermac. OK, so the engine was not the relatively perfected version of MK3 compared to MK2, but when I saw Kung Laos torpedo and Sektors and Sindels double projectiles I sho-ok my head. Was that needed?

The storyline for the additional chaacters also has gotten unthoughtfull, and looked like the fairly established core of MK3 had gotten a ten ton hard add-on with ridiculous ideas. And the athmosphere was missing greatly, and fighters have lost their uniqueness for me in the cabvalcade.

***

MK4: after this I stopped with MK. Except for MK1 and 2. I consider MK1 and MKDA for still having the best athmosphere yet. MK4 was a stepback and simple beat 'em up game. Nothing more. The new characters were even more abyssfull than the returning and new ones in trilogy.

***

MKDA: save for presentation and the refreshment with the new system, the game was a glitchfest. Nothing comparable to MKD, but it still had t's dumb moments. The impale looked good but was annoying to watch. oh yeah, fighting with a jian in your stomach is possible..please.

***
MKD engine. Aside from the great newcomer characters, MKD was a joke as a coherent fighter.

Oh man, I have a lot of MK memories from back in the day. Check this one out...

I was at the arcade back in 1995 when MK3 was out. Well, there was this asian guy wearing all black, long ponytail, and had a yinyang necklace on. He walks up to the machine and selects Shang Tsung. I watched as he played, and interesting thing was he would morph into whatever character he was fighting against and wouldn't morph into anyone else. The guy was good too, he seemed to know all the combos of every character he used. If he fought Liu Kang, he'd morph into Liu Kang. If it was Sub-Zero he'd morph into Sub-Zero, ect. When he got to Motaro and Shao Kahn he sticked with Shang Tsung (no morphing), and he beat the game with one credit and walked away, didn't even bother looking at the ending. I'm sure because he'd seen it before. I was impressed. I wanted to challenge the guy afterwards, but he didn't stick around long enough for me to ask. I would've loved to have had a match with this guy. Never seen him again though. Man.

Lots of other MK memories, but I'll save for another day. smile

While in college I worked at pizza place that included an arcade in the back. I lucked out and was placed in charge of the arcade 3 of the 5 days out of the week, closing no less. Due to this I literaly had the arcade all to myself after closing with all the free tokens I wanted. *grin* Unfortunately, the arcade was aimed more for little kids who wanted to earn prizes by winning those tickets than for teenagers. One of the few true games there was Mortal Kombat (the first one, remember this was in 1993) and pretty much that was the game I played from store closing to when the boss kicked me out so he could go home. I think he was just made because I always kicked his butt at MK and Street Fighter II.
