I think Mortal Kombat is spent. they've done everything they can, the graphics aren't getting better, it's just going to become more and more repetitive. It's probably going to be a mirror image of MKDA with a few different arenas and characters and shit. I'll be suprised if I like the next one as much as I like MKDA

Can you name a fighting game franchise that hasnt reused a fighting engine more than once? I know I can't.

Well, they got a lot to do with the next MK, if you ask me. If you don't think the way I do, just take a look the Tao Feng video previews and list of features it indeed have: just having MKDA with new characters (actual old/new not in it), other returning, more polygon counts, bruises, cuts, limb broken, interactive arenas with a lot of breakeable objects, characters getting weaker while they get hit in specific parts, more than one fatality, stage fatalities, multi-leves AND all those stuff they promised but didn't put in it would make MK6 as new and great as you couldn't imagine!

Also, add to that FMV endings and deeper use of the new things they implemented, like The Krypt and Konquest... So, you still thinking they can't add anything else?

ok whats going to happen is we'll see mk6 on the ps2,xbox,gc and we'll see mk7 which im sure there will be an mk7 which will be on the new systems so why wouldnt u want to see just a new mkda with more characthers and features instead of waiting for like 2 to 3 years for mk6 on a whole new brand of systems i know i wouldnt want to.

hmmm, you have a point, but I think they have just about reached their peak. I think one more Crack at an MK game is about all they have left. unless they are going to somehow discover some 4th dimension of some sort, they are going to be stuck on the same thing for a while.

Sayng that a game is gonna suck, with out knowing anything about it, is crazy.

You can say it will suck all you want, that's your opnion. But I'll wait until we have actual videos, screens, and other info (you know, proof)on the game before I decide if it will suck or not.

Imo, after playing MK:DA, there's a 100.0% chance of MK6 not sucking.

They need to somehow take MK onto a new platue, and they did that with MKDA, but they won't be doing that with MK6, so it's gunna be another repeat

what if MK6 was exactly the same as MKDA? wouldn't it get kinda old. yeah, the graphics are going to be exactly the same, along with most of the characters and most of the fatalities. yeah, its gunna suck compared to MKDA, unless you haven't played MKDA then I'm sure that MK6 will be better
There is a limit to what can be done in a fighting game. When you reach this limit all you can do is tweak little things here and there, like Tekken, or VF. I think those games are almost perfect. (note almost)

MKDA has a lot of stuff to add, before they can reach that level.

There are a lot of things which have never been done before.

Actually, there is TONS left to be done with the fighting genre. Really, no fighting game has delved into the realm of online play yet. That in itself leaves virtually endless possibilities.

However, MK6 ... online or not ... is rumored to be intensive in its single-player mode. Supposedly, you'll traverse great territory in developing your character and the game's storyline. There is TONS to be done with this. I develop this idea further in this thread.

What? How can you say that? At least it's better than MK4.

it will be like Mk:Da but everything that you want in the game like extra fatalities, more secrets, better characters, more maps, and stage fatalities.

yeah i think so as well
The entire Mortal Kombat series has had a constant story line. Sure a storyline doesn't affect how the game plays that much, but it does mean that they can bring in new things to it. MKDA did just that, bringing in new characters with it's new fighting engine, and it is good, like or not due to lots of good ratings and it has sold through the one million mark.

Okay, so where they left off the various storylines in MKDA means they can continue and add to them in MK6. That's one thing sorted.

Graphics wise MKDA is very good, and they can either keep the same standard of get better.

Gameplay wise, they have got a new engine, which they will probably (or maybe definately, i'm not sure as yet) keep, meaning that they can add to it. Gameplay improved.

Hopefully they won't be as tight with a time schedule now, so that they can add all those extras, that seems to only please some people. They should have learned that SOME fans did not receive the one fatality and no confirmed real secrets, too well.

All I can say is the MK team has alot going their way for MK6, they would be fools not to go along with their advantages. But the only way we will know for sure if MK6 will suck or not, is to wait and see.

And if you read all that, then I'm impressed.

is probably going to be just like MK:DA. before DA came out everyone thought it was goin to be hella tight.... when i came out lots of people complain... cause they were expecting too much, i think the same thing is gonna happen with MK6...

Well if they eliminate it being on PS2, the graphics would be better, or if they put more time into the Xbox version(or Gamecube) after finishing the PS2 version... then the graphics on the Xbox version would be excellent... anyway... if MK6 has more fatalties, more character development, and adjusts the fighting system to tweak the bugs out and improve on it, it will be good, excellent if they have multilevelstages(DoA series), more clothing tearing, scarring, hats shattering falling off, masks being pulled or ripped off, and adding more detail into it.. as well as in game or FMV endings or something like that...

I have seen some sturdy arguments toward why MKDA and MK6 will/do suck before. This isn't one of them, so I'm not even going to bother.

if you actually played mk1,2 and 3 u would notice they r different games. street fighter alpha series is one of the most popular fighting game series to this day and they all used the same engine, utilizing simple gameplay tweaks, new images and characters, and still proves to be popular in some arcades. i think they r doing the right thing using the da engine, people love da, it proves popular even after a 6 year wait for an mk fighter. if they kept making a new engine everytime they made a new game it would take ages.

the scenario you mentioned would probilly be the worst case scenario. I don't believe it will happen, for example: the gameplay is unfinished and will improve allott

Isn't there some sort of law that bans stupid people from the Earth?
What do u mean the graphics aren't getting any better? The graphics were great in all of the versions.
MK is not spent. The three fighting styles per character is entirely new.
You dont know SHIT about MK6. So what da fock are u on about?

I think MK6 is going to be much better than MKDA unfortunatly. I think in mk6 they will:
-simplify the fighting styles/combos a little(yet look more intense. Like Sonya)
-have multiple fatalities
-have pit fatalities
-better secrets
Its too bad real MK fans had to wait this long for the next version to come out and it be MKDA. Im hoping MK6 will really impress the hard-core MK fans.
