I love the DA fighting engine but I think that there is room for many more moves... for example, 1. there should be attacks used with diagonal directions on the control pad. This way each button has up to 8 different moves to perform using the 8 directions on the control pad.
2. The adoption of 1-2 universal moves per character such as the classis uppercut! I mentioned this in a post last year... I know many others miss this as well as I do
3. Multiple throws per character and reversals that automatically initiate a throw (like people in Tekken like Jin and Nina).
4. A Fatality per fighting stance would be awesome but i doubt that will happen.

I agree with you statement. Many people have complained that the DA fighting engine had promise but was to limited to incorparate the types of stragies that could be used in other fighting games. Even though it was a 3d game it felt a little like MK4 upgraded. I would love to see the next Mortal Kombat game resemble Soul calibur or Virtua fighter. The sheer number of stratgies you could use in those games made them among the top fighting games ever made. And I would love to see mk6 join or surpass them.

I don't want it to look like another game so much... but some aspects of those games u mentioned are positives. I do agree with you on that. I just think more moves, a univeral uppercut and throws could add a lot of depth to an already great game!
Also, I want to apologize b/c I just realized that someone already posted a thread concerning the universal moves.... I guess we were on the same page of thought there smile
