I think that the only way that MK will take the crown is if they really puch the envelope on the fighting engine. I think that for every fighting style there should be a command list the size of Soul Calibur. Each style would have two sets of straight attacks, one list running attacks, one for counters and throws, and one for taunts. This is a lot of work, but every character would have atleast three hundred moves, leading to endless possibilities for combos, attacks, and juggles. This would especially help out the weapons aspect. If Namco can do what it did for Soul Calibur and their weapons only based combat than imagine what the MK team can do for the characters of MK with their multi fighting styles.

Just like with your LongRange weapons thread, all great ideas. This would be awesome. If each style had a large number of moves for straight attack, running, and coutering like real styles do this game would really kick ass and truly be the best fighting game today. I hope they have thought of this already. It has been mentioned that returning fighters will have their style from MKDA with more moves so perhaps they have already implimented this? If not they should.

Thanks. I'm a big fan of Soul Calibur, and Mortal Kombat. But what made Soul Calibur so awesome was the amount of moves each player could do with only their weapons.

Exactly so it is easy to imagine how awsome it would be to have that implemented into a game with two unarmed fighting styles and a weapon for each character. However therin also lies the downfall of this plan. It would take an insane amount of work and motion capture to do this for 24 characers with more or less completely different styles. Soul Calibur was different only the weapon combat had to be concentrated on, one fighting style per character. So while the move list will likely be expanded some It probably won't be to this extreme. sad

I agree with the fact that it would take an insane amount of work, and maybe it shouldn't be this extreme, they should at least give the fighters 50% more moves. And if they do delay the game to do it up like Soul Calibur, then I'm willing to wait.
