First off I would like to say that Sub-Zero looks great and his alternate costume with the pony tail looks even better, the best look ever IMO.

This may have been posted before but I never really understood that thing with those different Sub-Zero’s, to me it was just Sub-Zero... the man with the ice powers. I only knew that the one from MK1 was a different one, he was evil. But comparing these new Sub-Zero pics to the ones from MKDA there is something different about him. You can have a good look at him in the new pic with Mileena and Skab. He looks more like a monk or Asian or something, and as I remember correct the Sub-Zero from MK2 was Asian (as seen in his ending). I don’t know if the MK2 Sub was the same as bad one as MK1. Was he????

My point is, could this Sub-Zero maybe be the original Sub from MK1. He sure looks bad to me. Some say Mileena, Li Mei and Kabal where dead too but they seem to be back. Maybe the Dragon King or Skab (his possible minion) have the power to raise the dead and use them in his army that would explain his return and the other Sub-Zero will remain on earth with the other heroes.

What do you guys think of this and could someone explain the different Sub-Zero’s to me.

UPDATE: i forgot this verry important detail. This new pic with Mileena and Skab is a clearly new render and he still hasn't got his scar. They wont forget an important detail like that. THIS MUST MEEN SOMETHING.

This theory has been said before many times, and I think the general consensus leads to it being second Subby. The older Sub-Zero is dead, so wouldn't reviving him mean he would have those glowy eyes? That is a detail they wouldn't have left out twice.

I think the Dragon Medallion will play a huge part in this story. I think it is slowly twsting Sub-Zero (maybe even making him murder Frost), and making him older, yet more powerful.

I did not know it was posted that much, but still I think there is something different about him. And why didn’t they add his scar in both renders, if this is not the old subby then I do think he is following a dark path in this game. Either way I think we can expect a big twist in his story this time.

As I said before it IS quite possible that this is the evil Sub-Zero...and quite possible maybe he killed the other sub from MK:DA took his medallion and no one knows that he is the evil Sub...maybe HE is part of the deception...Just a try!

It's the younger Subzero. The other sub is dead, and I don't know why everyone is saying he was evil. Anyone who played mythologies knew he was nuetral anyway.

There is defenately something different about this Sub-Zero. And being dead in the MK universe means nothing, look at Johnny Cage.

Agreed, but replacing a character who has been developed for four games with a former character who only appeared in the debut with no evident personality would be absurd.

Also, before DA came out, in the first promo pic of Sub-Zero in his alternate costume, he had glowing eyes and his scar wasn't there. But he was the younger Sub-Zero.

And the early versions of the MK4 arcade had Sub-Zero without a scar on the main selection screen.

Maybe they are enacting something they have been meaning to do for a while, or maybe it's nothing. Speculation is half the fun.

Like others have said, this is probably the younger Sub-Zero, the older one appeared in only two games.(If you don't count MKU and MKT)I think the Medallion is regenerating his body at the cost of his youth.Maybe that's why his scar faded.

SmokeNc has a good point. In MKDA Sub's scar was a light blue, and maybe it eventually disappeared.

question, if mortal kombat deception supposely happens right after mortal kombat da then how does sub zero age that fast even with the medalion.

Quite simple. If you look at the differences between Sub-Zero 50 year old (from MKDA), and Sub-Zero 25 year old (from MK4, estimating what age they look like here) you'll notice he has aged incredibly. Who says Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance didn't last months? e might never know, but it is very possible.

Agree with you 100%. Why kill off a character with brilliant storyline progression, with a character people might really hate (he was only really in two games). That would be like killing off Reptile after Deadly Alliance for Chameleon.

It would be cool if it was the original subzero raised from the dead to serve the Dragon King. Perhaps storyline wise, the Grandmaster Subzero would have to stay in earth realm to help Raiden, Sonya etc protect it from some other danger. In his place he sends Frost as the Lin Kuei representative. She meets the original subzero and tries to get him to convert back to fight for the Lin Kuei while Sub tries to corrupt her into deceiving her allies and joining him. In Subs ending he corrupts her, in hers she converts him and we don’t find out what happened until MK7 (or an official ending video which is unlocked once you finish the game with every character).

If you look at unmasked sub zero in mkda, Hes quite wrinkly, Now if you look at the bald outfit from mkd all them wrinkles are gone. Also on a mk website it says sub zero is under 40 years old

I agree with what Temp said. The older Sub-Zero is officially dead and as much as I don't like to say this....he will most likely not return ever again..And yeah..even though his soul was tainted with evil, he was not quite an evil guy.

The younger Sub-Zero seems to be one of the most evolving characters of the entire series. So far in MK: D, he looks more evil though that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be evil. As for his scar, perhaps the Dragon Medallion healed it. His alternate costume at first, wasn't to my liking but it's starting to look a bit better to me now though I still like his Shredder look more. wink

I see some big changes happening with his storyline and hopefully, it'll be good and interesting like always.

It is definately the younger sub. It was stated by a person that works at midway that the medallion ages the person faster. And like someone else said there was always promo pictures of sub without the scar for every game. And as you can see with many big pics of sub now, his whole face is frosted over which could conceal the scar. I did, however see a pic of MKD sub with the scar.

I’m not saying that the younger Sub-Zero is dead or to be replaced, this can only be a one game thing. The Dragon King could have resurrected the older Sub and uses him for his own purpose while the younger Sub remains on Earthrealm with Sonya, Kung Lao and the others.

That is a good theory as well but like icypain says, the wrinkles he had in MKDA seem to be gone so actually he looks a bit younger than he did in MKDA. I did not see a MKD pic with Sub with scar like Xalibar says, but if that’s true then I guess it is the younger Sub.

where are you people getting this evil bullshit from? the first sub-zero wasnt evil at all considering he ended up saving earth from Quan Chi and Shinnok. He just had a reckless past because of all the killing, and even then, it was only for his clan, the lin kuei. You guys gotta stop with this evil talk.
