I was refering to PorfesserAnkha.
By 'essence', i meant a lot of things, but mainly, the special charisma that MK has got. To me, MK is a darkly toned universe mixed with traits of asian misticism and traditions, that results in a masterpiece. Really, i think MK could expand to other fields that not just the videogames/ movies / tv series, like literature or something like that. It has tons of background story, legends, myths rooted far back into time, and can be even more expanded but just not with a comic book universe...

Well, fuck it then. Maybe some little kids will buy it. Honestly, I'm trying to stay optimistic on this. I think it can be a good "Fighting" game. Not a good MK game though.

But, if this game is Canon...and Boon puts this in the MK history, I'll be very pissed.

My opinion of this Game from an MK Standpoint depends on MK9

As for a fighting game, I think this game has a lot of potential to be good. In the same way, this game can be flat out horrible.

I have to admit this game has grown on me alot since it has been announced. I can say i am looking forward to this game. Before you start Patronising me or saying how much of a cop out of a fan let me just say this:
fuck off and grow up. I am probably a stronger MK fan and supporter than half of you on here.

Now lets get back on subject. I believe this game will be a success, purely because the fact that the fan bases of each are minute compared to the likes of Street Fighter and Marvel Comics (though MK and DC are still great). By merging the 2 you get something not like SF vs XMEN you get something completely different.

Reasons:

Mortal Kombat is Darker and more in Depth than Street Fighter. DC comics are camp - lets face it, men in spandex with brown nosing men in spandexes as sidekicks. Also the old movies made the DC look really gay. The way DC seems to be going recently though with the new Batman movie (which was really cool) everything seems to tie in quite well in this title. This title will bring both down to earth a little bit (Mortal kombat a little *lighter* and DC a little *darker*. These two titles are so diverse they actually suit each other very well. Where as street fighter and Xmen were both pretty much the same style (and yeah they suited each other too).

Now because both MK and DC have smaller fanbases - and both have been working hard on bringing fans to their series' recently and have gotten the publicity, it won't matter if they lose the some immiture fans (as is expected) in the end they will be attracting to wider audience of people thus making a heck of alot of money (i bet warnerbros will get the most dosh). Which will put in place for the next MK title - and because there will be a bigger fan base than before because of this publicity stunt there newer games will make more money than their previous titles.

The only thing i didn't agree with was the way ed boon was going on about it prior to the event of release. He should have kept everything hush hush until the last minute. People were expecting a real "canon" plot and got this. And while i was shocked at the start, i am now suprised and believe this will work out very well. and yes he did say it would be a suprise.

Ok, I understand what you mean about the essence. See, I like the literature idea, maybe a few novels, but the Writing staff will never be capable to do it....(do the game's writing staff's usually do it? Or is it a different writer)

u guys r amazing flipping out because mk is going 2 to have crossover with dc sure im pissed because we might not have fatalities but that doesn't mean this is such a bad thing so yea i do agree with ProfesserAhnka but leo i do see what u mean about the t rated mk game and less blood + gore but the game will probably have a great success

This game has no business being an actual MK game.....as in affecting the story....but this game can still be a fun game to play.

Unless the movie is epic, MK is as big as it's going to get.
They've got their obsessed legion of diehard fans that'll make excuses for shitty games out of a love for the franchise, and a bunch of people that get the game due to the iconic nature of MK because it was so seemingly special in the beginning.

This game probably won't do shit for the franchise unless the actually make something worthwhile playing.

I remember being obsessed with MK: Armageddon, countless months I reeled with anticipation, making excuses here, saying how great it was... And after all that build up, wow... I can't see myself forgiving the lackluster game I got...

Seems like a trend for them to make mediocre, but cool look games.

This game just expands on cashing in on recognizable faces, its just another MK gimmick. That's all MK seems to offer is shitty fucking gimmicks.

And I'll agree with that. I was excited for MKA, i remeber the first day it was unvealed, whew, the memories, speculation, will such and such be in? How will motaro look? Ect, all ended up being C.R.A.P.
