I have this theory on sub-zero.
like basically in deception it suggests that sub could be from outworld and reptile could actually be from earthrealm in that case its a good thing sub never won the tournament because in deception's conquest mode one mission asks you to find out why bo rai cho never fought in the tournament and he says it's because he's originally from outworld and if he won, it would be a win for outworld not earthrealm. so it stands to reason that the same would apply to sub-zero. if he is indeed from outworld then he can never be allowed to win an mk tournament ever. If i where on the mk team i'd take this as an oppurtunity to turn sub-zero bad and align him with outworld and re kindle his feud with scorpion. scorpions always portrayed as the baddy out of the two it'd make an interesting change.
just so everyones aware it also says somewhere in deception that reptiles race may have been originally from earth before the appearance of man and migrated to outworld

that would definitely be a twist...
but i think it wouldn't bode so well within the story [and subby fans ^_^] since in MKDA he reformed the Lin Kuei specifically so it wouldnt be all evil and questionable and stuff anymore...
so why would he suddenly go against all the stuff he's believed in just because he might originally be from outworld... you know?

Reptile may have originally lived in Zaterra, but his race, the Zaterrans( Also called Raptors), were rumored to originally have come from Earthrealm. They existed there before humans, and left when the war Between the Elder Gods escalated. They went to their new realm of Zaterra, which was then combined into Outworld.

Exactly. To simplify, the Saurians lived on Earth. When Shinnok challenged the Elder Gods (1st time) the battles that ensued with Raiden almost destroyed Earth, it was plunged into years of darkness forcing the Saurians to Zatterra. Around Reptile's birth Shao Kahn conquered the realm and merged it with Outworld.
I know I just repeated you Reptilefanatic, but I wanted to put it in my own words.

What's funny is, and I am going off-topic for a minute, is that Bo' Rai Cho can't fight in MK because every victory he achieved would be a victory for Outworld........So why is it that Shang Tsung can achieve victories for outworld when he's from Earth? (Stated in MK:DA)
It's because Shang Tsung is originally from Outworld, People!! And this is why I hate when stories are retconned!

Sub-Zero's race is from Outworld.....not Sub-Zero himself....he was born in Earth Realm...
Shang Tsung is also from Earthrealm, thats why all those years he dominated the Tournament Earthrealm did'nt go to Shao Kahn. He had to wait to be defeated and then let Goro take over as Champion.

Interesting idea, but like goku, sub-zero would never become the very thing he hates and fights.

in deception it said that he discovered a something or other that linked his lineage to an outworld race that had the same ice powers as he did.
and Irine4...
nice DBZ reference there.

As stated, Sub-Zero himself isn't from Outworld. His ancestors came to Earth thousands of years ago.

Even if he were from Outworld, I don't see Sub-Zero turning evil because of it. It's become well established that Sub-Zero is a good guy.
And his feud with Scorpion should not be rekindled. It's over and done.

It was said that although Shang Tsung's essence was created on Earth, Shao Kahn allowed him to become a free-roaming sorcerer. I believe that's the explanation why Tsung's victories don't count for Earth.

Slightly off topic, but how has Scorpion always been portrayed as the bad guy of the two?
In MK1, the original Sub-Zero was a cold-blooded assassin and Scorpion was a man who lost his family and wanted to avenge himself.
In MK2, Scorpion vows to protect the younger Sub-Zero.
In MK3, he almost joins Shao Kahn but turns against him and helps the Earth fighters.
In MK4, he only served Quan Chi because Quan Chi offered to bring him back to life...and turned against him once he found out Quan Chi killed his family.
In MK:DA, Scorpion was after Quan Chi...one of the main villains.
And in Deception, he was serving the Elder Gods to prevent the end of the world.
Even if you don't believe the vow to protect Sub-Zero was canon, it doesn't change that Scorpion has never been presented as a villain in the actual games. The only game where Scorpion is ever presented as a bad guy is Shaolin Monks...which is non-canon.
I believe your referring to the race called cryomancers..I believe thats what they are called but Sub Zero wasn't born with the ice powers so the Lin Kuei must of had something to do with the cryomancers but my source is wikipedia and we all know how people can put false info on that site

Yes he was. He inherited his Kori powers from his father who got them from his father and so on. He's like a mutant from X-Men.

Most likely the potential ability, but probably that the knowledge or discipline to harness it. HIs father passed these secrets down to him and his brother when they were taken back to China to be trained by the Lin Kuei.

Yes and no. He had a chinese father and American mother. He was raised in china. He found out he maybe, related to a race of people from outworld, because they have ice powers like him and frost.
Oh thanks Chinesedragonst for the compliment.
actually I never heard anywhere In the MK stories say he was born with the powers.......Im pretty sure he learned of Kori powers and due to him and his brother (Noob) being the sons of the original Sub Zero......they harnessed the powers a lot quicker and became the top theifs and asassins due to their quick learning of Kori and their skill in kombat. Im pretty sure they weren't born with the powers......they had to learn just like the rest of the lin kuei but do to him being from the family he's from.......he and his brother were able to master the powers. Just like they say how the original Sub Zero was the first picked and he was the Lin Kuei's top assassin because he learned the powers and skill......then later on.....................his younger brother learned the skill and power and became the next chosen lin kuei warrior........if they inherited their powers from birth........then they would have both been equally challenged once they became lin kuei, but the MK story says that the older brother masters the powers and skill while his younger brother is still learning it.......peace

It says in the mk:ms instruction booklet that sub-zero learned his powers when he was an adolesant. He inherited from his father, a fourth generation lin kuei.
The reason for the sub-zero's not being equals, other than age has to do with the name. sub-zero is a code name, when the older brother died (noob saibot), the younger brother got the game since he was the next family member.
And of course the younger brother would have been still learning as the older brother was like i dunno 32.

Sorry, topic creator, for going off-topic again, but:
Shang Tsung was not originally from Earth. He might have been intended to be from Earth at a later date, but as late as MK3, it was believed that he was a demon rom outworld. Here is a picture from a 1993(4?) issue of Gamepro covering MKII. It's John Tobias's concept of Shang's true form. It was also in this issue that they introduced Kintaro's original Tiger-man design, but that's another story.

Also, remember MKII's opening that says that Shang Tsung was banished INTO Earth to take over the Shaolin tournament? Ah well....

From MK: Mythologies:
"Shang Tsung's essence was created on Earth. He obtained his ability as a free roaming sorcerer by assisting Shao Kahn who was at the brink of taking the Earth for his own through Mortal Kombat."
Now I don't know if this little tidbit of info's been forgotten or retconned, but as of Mythologies' release, Shang Tsung did originate from Earth....at least in John Tobias' mind.

I don't remember that from MK Mythologies but that obviously came after the Goblin/demon design that was supposed to be Shang's true form. However, that bit about his essence was created on Earth could be taken another way: Maybe Shao Kahn was able to create Shang Tsung on Earth realm. See what I'm saying? Why didn't it just say that Shang Tsung was BORN in the Realm of Earth instead of saying his essence was CREATED, as if by artificial means?
Sort of like how Sindel was recreated/resurrected on Earthrealm. Just a thought.

All i know is that neither Sub-Zero or Scorpion will win this tournament.
But they will survive armageddon.
I'm thinking that Taven might be the victor of this closing chapter.
It is possible that Sub-Zero could still tranform into an ice god from the medalian.

Sub-Zero allying with Kahn would make him to third ninja to betray his ancestors by alligning himself with the guy who wiped them out. Can you say "cliche"?
