Quan Chi killed Shinnok (MK4/MKG), then he made an alliance with Shang Tsung (MKDA/MKTE), then something we don't know happens and the Dragon King has it now.
I guess that the Dragon King killed the Deadly Alliance when they were about to conquer the world (if they weren't defeated by the Earth warriors).
But still, we don't know much about the MKD story.
