He better have all his morphs back...now THAT was Shang

Boon mentioned that all characters will have their signature moves back so I hope, and pray for Shang's morphs if he is in fact in MKD

That would be the only way I'd want him to come back. I love Shang Tsung and he is one of my favorite characters, but his morph is necessary. With 3 styles per fighter, if you actually knew how to fight with every character you'd be unstoppable. It would take a lot of work though.

But how could that even be done? If Shang Tsung had his morphs, then it would be assumed that he could morph at any time, but Shang can do this, then the MK team has to think of combos that start in one character's style and then goes into another character with another style. Think about how many combo connections that would have to be given how many fighting styles there are total in this game. If they don't allow you to switch characters mid combo, then what's the point? Sure, I really liked Shang Tsung's morphing abilities in the older Mk games, but this game has a very large and complex combo system, so if you take away Shang's ability to morph during a combo, then you take away 90% of the reason why morphing with him would actually be useful in the game. Then you're pretty much picking a Shang Tsung, morphing into another character and fighting for a while, which doesn't seem nearly as fun or fulfilling to me now as it did back in the day.

Still, I like the morphing, I just think it'd be too difficult to pull off in the newer MK games due to how relevant it'd be to the actual fighting system. Just my opinion.

Well... by morphing u could have different special moves... like ashra's lighning thing to crush the opponent, and as they get up, u use Hotaru's magma to pop them up, then become Jade to give a glowing kick and send them straight into the grinder!

Now, a problem with the morphs is that in these Mk's u gotta unlock most characters... so I doubt they would be able to program Shang so he can only morph once the character is unlocked...

What they could do though is that Shang can only morph into the opponent... this would be interesting couse it'd be like changing characters every fight...

It would be a bit hard to bring back his morphs in a 3D game... This is what I think.... :/

The reason why Shang Tsung doesn't have morphs any more is due to loading times. Play MK Trilogy on Playstation and see what I mean.

Shang's Morph was at it's peak in MKII. I don't think they could ever make it as good as it was then. Morphing a 3d object is a lot harder than morphing a sequence of sprites.

He should only be able to morph into a few characters that are not in the game.

Morphing was the best of him.

To be honest, I feel that he doesn't need his morphing powers. He kicked ass in MK: DA without them.

Shang doesn't need the morphs. He proved in MKDA that he is capable of owning without them! He was top tier!

I agree... I would have put Shang on the "who's who" list of MKDA. I would bet that a huge majority of people (if they kept their personal character preferences and biases aside) would rank shang as one of the top 5 in the game.... so he really doesn't need the morphs anymore!

If they did include it, it would have to be something lame, like Shang would be there, you would input the morph command, a puff of smoke would engulf you and you'd be the new person. Then you'd puff back to Shang after about 5 seconds or so.

I know it sucks about the load times for the morphing for the home systems. That blew. I really wish they could work around that. Because honestly, I thought Shang was WAY bland in MKDA. And if I remember correctly, you would morph and stay that character for X seconds. Not morph, do a combo, and morph again, add to that combo, and morph again....I don't remember spam morphing but anywho.

Morphing WAS Shang Tsung, from MK to MKII...It was his forte

In a 3D game, that'd be had, especially since there are gonna be 30+ characters in the game, so here' how they'd do it:
Style 1: Shang's Style
Style 2: Random kharacter style
Style 3: Random kharacter weapon

If he switched to the 2nd style, he'd just transform into the character.

maybe he could just 'impersonate' other characters like Shinnock did in MK4... His fighting styles would be the same but he would only have the 'special moves' of the other fighters or something like that.

i think that shang should only be able to morph into charactors that are suppose to be dead that arent playable in deception, so it would be kinda like he took there souls once they died

The morph could be done if the entire game was loaded and streamed off of the hard drive of both the Xbox and the PS2 attachment. The problem is that not very many people own the PS2 hard drive (why would you anyway?) to give a reason to program that feature in. If the Xbox were to have the morphing feature and the PS2 didn't the sales figure for the PS2 version would drop significantly as a lot of people would want the more "complete" version.

Midway does not want that to happen. Why lose out on the system that will sell the most copies of the game? Just my opinion.

It's funny how he went from being a mid tier character to top tier with the removal of his morphs. Just a thought.

You have to realise not all Shang fans would want the morph back. I'm one of those that doesn't. The load times would be horrendous and as I said, he has proven he doesn't need the morph. I never liked him with them!
