Easy fixed, just play the game against your mates instead of online against people who are sad enough to actually care whether their profile has any losses on it. Caring whether you win or lose in a videogame is sad in itself, caring enough to reset the console before it saves your loss goes far beyond being sad though.
I've been playing MKD against my mates, lots of fun so far (haven't unlocked everybody quite yet, just Jade and Noob actually, the version of the game we have glitches and no keys can be got). And you know why? None of us give a flying fuck abourt videogames, they're only for fun. None of my mates have managed to beat me yet, but they don't crack the shits, have a tantrum and reset the game so they don't lose. That's just fucking pathetic... As a matter of fact, half the time my mates actually like losing since I'm the only one who has memorised any fatalities so far. They care more about seeing cool fatalities than whether they win or lose, so do I for that matter.
It's a game, it's supposed to be fun and good for eye candy. Nothing more, nothing less. If playing online means versing people who are so pathetic they actually take it seriously, stop playing online. Invite some freinds over, much more fun.
As for the whole always going the same character thing, it comes down to this probably - People like me play purely for fun, I use every character on ocassion even though I have 5 or 6 characters I hover around (because I enjoy using them), it makes the game more fun. Some people on the other hand only care about winning, which is why they always use the same character, they figure they'll get good enough to win virtually every time. Rather than get pissed off at the kiddies though, just be thankful you have a life when they obviously don't. You're playing for fun, don't let sad cases like the ones mentioned ruin it for you.

I don't mind people who always pick the same figther, the thing that I can't really stand is when I'm about to beat someone and the guy disconnect... Why do they do that you wont win a price if you have a good rank it's just for the fun of playing MK like in the old days, today I had 4 people in less than an hour that disconnected themself to not get the loss, or most of time if they feel that they can't beat me easily they don't continue...I mean isn't better when the macth ends at the very end of the the 3rd round then just winning over and over against people that just got the game and are easier to beat ''for now'' anyway My name online is JOVANOT on the PS2 feel free to challenge me I never refuse a good fight

I win about 75% of the time anyway, but if someone keeps picking the same person over and over, I usually get tired of playing them and just say no to a rematch.. it gets boring.. AND YOU'RE RIGHT! THEY ALWAYS PICK SCORPION... yet lately... people are picking Shujinko.. . what a cheap fighter... it's not fair to do that much damage and have that many special moves...

I think players can play as whoever the hell they feel like playing. Saying that you're not a true MK player unless you play as more than one fighter is pure idiocy. Grow up.

....I didn't want to say it, but since you couldn't read between the lines, I have to say it.... if you're extremely skilled with every single character--you have no life. I think almost everyone will agree with me on that. Knowing moves is one thing, but knowing all the combos? That's really, really sad.

hey man I can see what you are talking about... Even though I won't have online for my PS2 till next week, I know how annoying it is when people have 1 person. I play a lot of Tekken and I pride myself on being good with about 8 fighters..... the people who claim to be "bad asses" pick 1-2.....
With Deception I will probably use 10 people b/c I enjoy learning everyone not just the popular and cheap fighters.

At times this does seem to be a bit irritable, do I care about people using the same character...no not really. Why?...well, if you get bored with them, after each fight you have the option to say no to the rematch and go after some other scorpion lol j/k. I don't mind if someone uses the same character over and over its the using of the same sequence of moves over and over that is boring. Everyone knows what I'm talking about here so I won't waste the space.
Scorpion is my favorite of the original characters but I never use him online I see him enough. Mileena is my favorite character in MK, its the sai well it certainly isn't the teeth, I do use her not to the extent that you see scorpion or subzero used though. I'd say maybe 3-4 out of 20. I play with quite a few character whether I'm good with them or not. Most times if someone chooses a character before I do I try to use someone who rivaled that particular character or someone that may follow some sort of MK story from the past. I guess its a poor attempt at trying to make a piece of MK history come to life. Well, maybe someone out there has enjoyed it.
I don't care about W/L thats for sports games. I win some I lose some no different then the arcade or playing people at home. I have only been disconnected 1 time and I was winning >.< oh well.
