Oro only has one arm. It's not tied or anything, that is just his cloth. His arm is gone.

Also how kool can a character look once you take away one of his arms? Not very kool imo.

Well, Oro was half-naked, so the missing arm area could be covered up by a cloak/robe/etc. If Mavado had one arm (not with his fighting stances. God, that'd look stupid) his trenchcoat would just cover the missing arm, so you wouldn't see anything at all.

Oro is not missing an arm. He just keeps one tied up, as he thinks using both would give him an unfair advantage.

Anyway, I think the idea of a one-armed fighter sounds original and interesting.

I was pretty sure he was. Atleast it looks like that since there is no bulge or anything showing in that little cloth over his chest.

Guess some people would like a one armed guy after all. Just not me, it's not that kool or original imo.
