Hello there,
I've not been on the site for ages, in fact I don't even play video games anymore as a rule, but occasionally the following idea for MK:A's plot comes up in my head and wishes to be told to someone. So, let me know what you think.
As an alternative to the rather bizzare Blaze storyline, MK:A's plot could have run roughly as follows. Building off of MK:D, Onaga successfully intiates the process whereby the Kamidogu begin to merge. As a consequence of this, the various Realms also begin to merge, and slow chaos ensues. the Netherrealm expands into the other realms, thus releasing many condemned/defeated villains. In effect the entire (MK) Universe is thrown into disorder and conflict. Somehow one's character must navigate through it.
This idea presented itself to me as a very likely path for the plot to take when we first heard about MK:A's character roster, and it still seems to me a far superior storyline than the one which was ultimately developed. This would have explained the presence of characters such as Shinnok, Sheeva and so forth, and the chaos of the realms merging -- or, rather, colliding -- would have created interesting possibilities. Conceivably Onaga would have once again been the final boss, albeit in a much altered form; perhaps the One Being would have been regaining consciousness and overpowering the Dragon King's individuality, and we would have had to confront a "transformed" Onaga.
Your thoughts?
