An evil Kitana!
Imagine Kitana turning evil; The Dragon King abducts her and reawakens her evil nature (Remember, she's only been good for about 10-15 years of her 10,000 year plus life; before then she was a cold assassin.)
Kitana could then kill off her mother, and take her place as the Queen of Edenia, and thus, her new husband, the Dragon King would be the King of Edenia. Kitana and The Dragon King would challenge the Earthrealm in MK7 to a tournament.
In MK7, the newly resurrected Liu Kang would have to choose between his allegiance to his father figure/ mentor Raiden, and the woman he loves.

OMG! First they wanted Sonya evil, now Kitana! NO! Her evil days are over!
Well we need a deception; and I'd rather see someone like Kitana turn evil that would make sense, as opposed to someone like Raiden or Sub-Zero who wouldn't make sense at all.

the deception will be the DK turning good and going after the deadly alliance, the ones who resurrected him. You will never see the DK being good. you think of deception meaning somone will turn from good to evil. EVer thought of an evil person turning from evil to good?
If the DK is reptile, then the DA set themselves up for failure. we all know that guy in the hidden select screen is not reptile or a shokan nomore, its that grey guy "smoke".

My thoughts exactly. I think it's completely ridiculous turning otherwise good enemies evil out of nowhere. The only person who has any validity to this is Liu Kang since he's dead.

Why? Sonya turning evil would do NOTHING.
Think for a second:
Sonya is basically an unimportant grunt. She's part of a team of Earth warriors basically; That team has lost more important members than her to death before. Her turning evil would be a joke.
Kitana however, is the Princess of an entire realm. She has sooooo much pull. Kitana turning evil would make the story a lot more interesting. Remember, she was evil for the first 10,000 years of her life.
Liu Kang would not make sense as a villian at all; he's a one dimensional hero. He's the pillar of all that's good. I know that's why you all think it would be cool, but the fact is it would make no sense with the storyline. It'd be like turning Jesus Christ bad in the bible. It just wouldn't make sense at all.
Any character that turned evil from Earth; Jax, Sonya, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero etc. Would have very little storyline impact because when they leave Mortal Kombat, they are just ordinary people; none of them are rulers of an entire world.
For example if Sub-Zero went bad and joined the Dragon King, Raiden would just stomp out the newly evil Lin Kuei. Since they live on Earth, they are under his dominion.
On the other hand, Kitana isn't under Raiden's dominion; she's under the dominion of the Gods of Edenia.
Now think of this, if The Dragon King controlled Kitana, he could DECEIVE her into killing her mother, and marrying him, effectively taking over the crown of Edenia by DECEPTION. Outworld is a weakened realm after Kahn's defeat. The Dragon King would need to expand his realm in order to try a take over of Earth.
What you would see in MK7 would be a tournament; the first actual "tournament" in Mortal Kombat games for years. The resulting end of this trilogy with the dragon king, that started with Deadly Alliance, would be the death of a MAJOR character (We're talking Raiden, Kitana, or the Deadly Alliance.)
Keep in mind, I am a literature major, so I can analyze a story quite well. Don't patronize me and tell me that my story makes no sense. If you look at it logically, it makes perfect sense. Of course, logic elludes so many posters here. "Sc0rPioN iz Teh Be$t becuZ hE hAs TeH sKulL head1111111." Oh well, I guess it doesn't pay to actually try to have a logical discussion on a board dominated by 13 year old fan bois.

Ok, this is definitely my idea for an evil Sonya, the exact same idea.
But yeah, I do like the idea of Evil Kitana, thats why she was liked the most in Mk2 anyways. I think it has potential.
BUT I completely disagree with your post. So....Kitana evil would cause a much more powerful impact then any other character such as SONYA or SUB-ZERO?????
No, sorry. Sub-Zero (Note: You all know Im no fan of the ninjas) is story-wise, a much more important character then Kitana.
He is leader of the Lin Kei. Thats just enough, and while you most likely say Kitana is ruler blablabla, she (unlike Sub-Zero) could easily be replaced. We have Sindel, Jade, Tanya, Mileena and who knows what other new Edenian character!
Too many options to just focus with 1.
Sonya is know one of the most important character story-wise. She is head of the team and leads and commands Earth Forces against any possible treat. And like Sub-Zero, she cant be replaced by any of the known members of her team such as Jax, Cyrax and Kenshi (even though I really like him).
Reasons are obvious, besides being the original SF agent of the game, strongest female and character at the side of those, she has the leader thing going on. No one would command like Sonya, none of those are even close to her power in games/story to take her place.
I understand you like Kitana
, I like the idea of evil kitana again
, but to say she stands above other important characters like the many you mentioned is wrong.

I am aware that Kitana was once evil and IMO what makes her character interesting is that she does have this dark side to her that's she's trying to resist.
Now Kitana turning evil because of the Dragon King could happen because of her said dark side and the logical way for this story to go is for someone or Kitana herself trying to break free of the control. That alone makes a pretty good story.
If it goes as far as you suggest with Kitana killing Sindel and leading Edenia into the shitter, then the only logical way for it to end and have any real meaning is if Kitana breaks free from the Dragon King's control and sacrifices herself to destroy the Dragon King, effectively redeeming herself and freeing her realm once an for all.
In essence, Mortal Kombat's "Dark Phoenix Saga."
Or, the safer route is they could have Kitana simply survive the ordeal leaving her to pick up the pieces of everything she did. While this would have less impact than her death, seeing where she goes from there has potential for future games.
This all would make for a good story. So I say, if done correctly, Kitana turning evil again actually would work.
Only downside is the possibilty of her death which makes the fanboy in me flare up, but beyond that, I give it the thumbs up.
Now in regards to whether Sonya's turning evil would be important and have more impact, I say it's give or take. Sonya turning evil, she could progressivly weaken Earth's Forces from within making it easier for tha Dragon King's invasion. She could also lure some heroes to their deaths. Beyond that I see little impact.
Sorry, but I don't think Sonya is as important as people say simply because she is the leader of Earth's Forces. Mainly because Earth's Forces really haven't done anything. And until the Armies of Earth charge into battle against Outworld in a future Mortal Kombat, I don't see them ever having any impact on the story.
Sonya turning evil and having her cause the deaths of Earth's heroes would have significant impact on Sonya herself because the one thing she fears most of all if the loss of loved ones. So seeing how she deals with all that has potential.
One last thing I'd like to address is the common assumption that Kitana is easily replaceable and Sonya is not.
First of all, how could Jade or Tanya be the new princess of Edenia? It's not like a janitor where you lose one, you quickly get another one.
Also, as much as I like Jade, Sindel and Tanya, not one of them is NEARLY as developed as Kitana. I'm not saying they never will be, but when I say Kitana is the second deepest and most complex character in Mortal Kombat, I mean it.
And another thing, fans don't seem to take too kindly to character replacements. Tanya is the most obvious. Jarek wasn't too kindly recieved. And even though she wasn't, everyone thought Li Mei was a Mileena replacement and hated her for it.
Sonya's role in Mortal Kombat is simply this: The leader of Earth's Special Forces. Jax could easily take this role. People wouldn't like it, but it could still be done.
Point I'm trying to make is, ALL characters are replacable. It's really a question of whether fans would accept it or not. And in the case of Kitana and Sonya, they're irreplacable.
Christ that was long.

Kitana more replaceable than Sonya? BAH HAHAHA.
OK let me tell you something; is Liu Kang replaceable? ::Looks over at Sub-Zero:: apparently he is. Now if LIU KANG is replaceable, than Sonya is certainly replaceable.
To say that Sonya has more impact than Kitana is LAUGHABLE. same with Sub-Zero. Sonya is a Lt in the army (her promotion isn't official yet). Sub-Zero is the grandmaster of a small clan of a assassins trying to rebuild after basically being wiped out.
Kitana on the other hand, is the (would be) SOVEREIGN ruler of an entire WORLD. She has much more pull in the world of Mortal Kombat than does Sub-Zero or Sonya. In fact, Kitana has pull comparable to Raiden, Shao Kahn or Shinnok. Why?
Sonya can not declare War on Outworld on behalf of our realm. Nor can Sub-Zero. They haven't the power to send our realm into an interdimensional war. Kitana on the other hand, can do that. If she turned evil, she could start a tournament IN ORDER TO INVADE the Earth realm. This is something that neither Sonya, nor Sub-Zero could NEVER accomplish.
