Anyone Expecting a severe case of Power Creep Power Seep for the next MK after this game?

Definition of Power Creep Power Seep:
A character who is designed in his own show, book or universe basically needs to be written to be effective against other characters featured in that show, book, or universe. The concept is pretty self-regulating and self-contained.
However, a problem occurs once you try a crossover. If the crossover involves characters who were never created to work together and have an obvious difference in scope or power, you're stuck at trying to make sure each is effective. This usually involves two scenarios where you either nerf the powerful character or boost the "weaker" one, because you get the inevitable "Why is this guy even useful in this situation?"
Occasionally this fiddling with power levels sticks, and you essentially have a pseudo-Alternate Universe character. Sometimes characters will even get new powers just for balance, but once they go back to their own books these enhanced powers are quickly forgotten.
I think power levels will be fine for the next one, what I AM expecting (and even hoping for) is that some of the newer abilities carry over to the next MK, like SubZ's Ice block move and Scorp's flame aura.

The new specials look awesome in my opinion. However, some of them may need to be balanced a little better. Superman and Flash look like beasts to defeat, while batman is kinda on the sluggish side.
On topic. I wouldn't be suprised for these new moves to be carried over to future games. Sub's attack where you drop an ice block on the opponent is priceless.

Hmm...not really.
While we do know the Superheroes are being weakened by magic, I trust that most of the new special moves we’ve seen will remain intact.
Its like Ed said, the game IS CANON in a way. Scorpion doing all those new moves forms part of his canon character, they are possible, they are his.
Sonya’s classic attacks are canon to return as well. The new Bicycle kick power she has (were she kicks you from the air to below, as if they had gotten awesome inspiration from the cool VS Streefighter fan-made videos) is canon to her character, it makes her stronger, yes, but its part of her. Same as Subbys.
The game might not be canon storywise and all, but the characters are canon according to their selfs, to their own way of being in the game.
That’s why you wont see Sonya as a sweet love girl and Scorpion as a bunny.

Are there any tangible differences other than the number of special moves?
To that end, yes. I think it's going to be very difficult to convincingly go backward. I don't doubt there'll be vocal support universal teleports, and other bullshit.
