that was one of the best things about having the game at home and at the arcade so you can learn things at home and then bring them to the arcade and bust um out and now its just tekken and soul calibur which are 2 amazing games but it nothing like mortal kombat and beating the crap out of someone and then riping their head off but the problem with that is that everybodies mom bitches and moans about how the game is too violent fuck those soccer moms

That's why everyone is so excited that its going to be online. It may not be completely the same, but it will be close. You will still be able to challenge other 'kombatants' only without the snotty kids bumping into you and making you lose the game....*Damn, brat! I had money on that...* Ah, the memories.

(heh the everlasting sentence)
But I agree with you 100% on this. My mom didn't care about violence, but there are some who think that if little kids see Sub-Zero rip someones head off..they'll do the same! Yah...all of the 6 year olds know how to rip heads off! That's why there are so many 5 year old cereal killers around these days.

Online is definitely the answer. Arcades are disappearing throughout the United States. I can name 5 within 15 miles of my home in Pittsburgh which have been closed down. Nothing will beat the experience of standing side-by-side with your competitor. There is a certain comradship that takes place in arcades. That is slowly disappearing and that is just wrong. It would take a miracle to bring back arcades in this age of online gaming. Online gameplay is the new arcade and even if we find it tough at first, we have to ultimately embrace it.

It's kinda said that Arcades are slowly dying out. But given the vast audience of online games, it's not surprising. I love the the fact that MK has embraced the online gaming community, hopefully it'll take hold and bring back some of that excitement of playing random people.

Ahhh that takes me back to the good ol days.
I was about 13 when MK 1 hit arcades and the feeling of a group of your peers standing behind and looking over shoulder as you open a can of whoop ass on your opponent and then finish them with a fatality. And the people would cemmend you you on your skills and want to know where you learned it.

It would be great to have that feling again in MKD although the online play will be close to that you still wont have the fan base standing behind you in total amazement.

Yes I do miss the good arcade days of MK1-UMK3. But keep in mind at least here in the US, that arcades are pretty much dead here. Midway pulled out of the arcade bussiness a long time ago. Also since Midway needs a hit, they wont focus on a market that is dead here in the US. To me as far as fighting diffreant people, as you may know , MK6 will be online. Online will be better than arcade(as long as it doesnt cost like a monthly fee or something). Online will make MK6 even better than arcade based MK

Amen brother those were the good old days you see the new generation wont know that experiance of complete strangers wanting you to fight in a duel. And yeah I think the mom's played a role in the death of the arcade. but those were the good 'ol days i still have the ripped sheets with the fatalitys written on 'em. WE gamers had that common friendship in the arcade world and yeah our arcade was closed down along time ago. and i dont have the on-line adapter so ill have to wait for that.BUT TO ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTED THE MK AND THE ARCADE I SALUTE YOU!!

man...now that you guyz have gotten me thinking about that sorta community feel that the arcades had...having strangers move in next to you ,and give you that glare of .."yeah ..your going down..",and every time you walked in the "cade" players would see you coming and they would literaly say .."uh oh!,here comes...",and having the large crowds gather around you constantly going ohhh!! and ahhhh!! when ever you busted off some insane combo that only you could pull of...and players would come in asking "does he own the game?" meaning that no one could knock you off the game at all...yes,the good 'old dayz of the "cades"
thats y it would be interesting to get back a little of that, if midway would put in a "spectator mode" where just like in the "cades" you could watch two combatants go at it...would you be able to watch over the shoulder?...nahhh,but you would be able to watch.
