If a tree falls over in a forest and there is no-one there to hear it, can we be certain that it didn't fall over in a jungle? Check my profile for a clue...
Actually, now that I think about it, that cutscene might be after you play as Shang Tsung and have to beat Kano, so you might have to fight everyone anyway.
Obviously, I have no idea.
Edit:
Sorry, I just realised you're talking about arcade mode. I'd say you'd have to fight an even number of random guys from both sides, with your counterpart before Dark Khan ( like you play as Batman and have to kill 4 MK, 4 DC, Sub-Zero then Dark Khan ). Otherwise it would get kind of boring fighting only one side.

But do you think NPCs would be in arcade mode too?
Of course, that's assuming that there is NPCs and that they're not just in cutscenes ( which I doubt they'd do because then story mode would be really short or you'd have to kill everyone heaps of times ).

If its about 10, there's no way you only have to fight the opposing side because it would be too repetitive.
If its about 5, you might just fight random guys from the opposing side because each time you play there'll still be some variation.
Still, I don't think you'd only fight the opposing team. The 'Rage' is supposed to make the characters do things they normally wouldn't do, and they normally wouldn't fight their allies ( except Shang Tsung... I love that guy ), so its probably a set number of each side, but random characters.
they need to bring back choose your destiny so you can go through the whole roster.

SCORPION IS KICK ASS!!!!!!
Maybe if midway is smart, not saying that they ever did anything that wasn't smart, they would make arcade mode to fight everyone. If they don't, they should have a vs mode that is also one player and you get to chose who you fight.

I've played Armageddon's arcade mode numerous times and I've yet to face Kitana, Kai, Jarek, or Shang Tsung.
Get with the program, Midway!

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."
Some of the thread entries had me confused as to what the discussion was about. That's a first!
And THAT'S what Jack Burton has to say at this time.
Be able to fight anyone, wherever. No more of this fixed character, fixed stage bullshit.

Just to side track a little, hopefully, all the arenas will be available too. I recall the meteor storm and evil tower arenas in MKA never say the light of day in arcade mode.
Otherwise, here's hoping we get to fight everyone.

I recall reading there was a coding issue, or it was something that was missed in testing that caused the same characters/arenas to be played in arcade mode.
As JackBurton said, it would be nice to have the arcade mode as a mix of all characters and the story mode to stick to mk vs dc.
They ALWAYS make you fight the same characters AND the same arenas.
Remember MKA? You could NEVER fight in more then just 10 of the 25+ arenas of the game. AGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will really hate it if they do that.
Arcade will be very boring again for those who cant play vs or online.
The character fixed to an arena issue has been there since MKDA, which came out in 2002.
You know, whenever I fought Scorpion in Arcade Mode, it was always in the Lost Tomb.
At first I thought MK had gone Namco, then after a while I realized, "Damn, Scorpion can't go anywhere!" I really didn't mind, though. I love the Lost Tomb arena, and the Lost Tomb track even more.
