I dont think that the chess arenas will have stage fatalitys but it was said that all of the other backrounds will have 1.

I think all the chess areas will be able to be unlocked somehow and then used for VS or even Arcade. Cause if not then that's a waste of a whole 3-D stage imo.
I doubt the MK Team would go through the trouble to make a whole 3-D stage just to use it only in chess mode. This is the MK Team were talking about which never likes to go out of there way, so you know there going to add it to the total list just to make it look bigger and not be a waste of time.

That screenshot is from Chess Kombat. Whenever you try and take a piece in this mode, you have to fight for it. It requires skill in the actual fighting engine as well.A King could take another piece in a confrontation, for instance. It's just another way to make the game more interesting.

All of the stages that are featured around Chess boards will be translated into a 3d stage for two fighters to participate in..

It doesn't mean that all of these stages will be included in or around versus/arcade but we can all hope right? It wouldn't be like the team to use them for one mode and drop them altogether afterward.... But on topic, all stages in Arcade mode will feature deathtraps according to the MK Team.
