I remember hearing a while back that she is a demon hunter and she is trying to purify herself of evil.

ashra - used to be one of Quan chi's body guards until she didn't agree with one of his plans. She was cast ouyt and the other bodyguards were sent to kill her. While she was on the run,she found a blade known as kriss which she used to defeat her first attacker - as she did,she felt a strange power flow through her - the blade was enchanted, now with every deamon she slays,she feels that she is being purified.

They tried to make Li Mei a unique character in MKDA...... but she reminded me of an old charcter (*coughs* Mileena *coughs*)

With Ashrah, they made a REALLY unique character.. and because she dresses in white doesn't mean she's a Raiden clone...... I mean...
1st: there are no other demon hunters (male or female)
2nd: she wields a really vicious weapon (for a woman)
3rd: she's way cuter than Raiden.... lol
4th: do you think Jax and Kai are clones because they're both blacks ? do you think scorpion and sub-zero are clones cause they looked alike in the first MK games ?

My opinion: Ashrah is a very original character, and I'm glad she's not a slut like Kitana, Jade, Mileena, Tanya.... (dont misunderstand me: Mileena is a whore and shes my fav.. but its good to have a non-ho character in MK)

Anyway, I'me very eager to know more about her.... Hotaru and her are the best new characters in my opinion.

Im sure that she will have a run in with sub (from sareena) if not sareena herself and scorpion (hes a spectre after all). man i cant wait to see all of these, they are gonna rock!
