After popping Deadly Alliance into my XBox, I decided to not push start and let the game run. Well, after waiting a few minutes, you see Kitana putting on a Martial Arts exhibition with great camera angles and tons of detail in the background. After letting the attract screen mode run for about 15 minutes, I saw a lot of character bios, some fights, and other martial arts exhibitions from Quan Chi, Scorpion (really cool) and Blaze. I could tell the MK developers put a lot of time into these cinemas. For example, for Blaze, they used the background of the great dragon egg and YOU COULD ACTUALLY SEE THE DRAGON MOVING INSIDE THE EGG WHILE BLAZE WAS DOING HIS MOVES! :=0
My point is: The developers obviously spent a ton of time making these cinematics and unfortunately most people don't want to spend 15 minutes watching the attract mode to see this stuff. So what do you have to say about this? Should the developers not bother with putting this detail in future games like MK:Deception, should they make these martial arts scenes unlockable in the graveyard, or should the player receive a bonus (such as koins) for sitting through the attract mode 15+ minutes?
I think it is really cool, but there is no use having it if noone watches it. What do you guys think?

What I want to know is instead of doing these exhibitions that are 2-5 minutes long, why not spend your time making FMV endings that are 2-5 minutes long? It would increase the games replay value greatly.
But on subject, if I understand what you are asking, yes I do like them and think they should be in future MK's.

I realized the exact same thing TODAY!!! Creepy...
Anyway... I agree... these where COOL!!! they should have been in the Krypt...
AALSO the krypt should either show what is new kntent u just bought ot just place it in the order u buy it... because it's a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS to go through the whole kontent gallwery to find what you just bought

True. I get tired trying to find stuff that I just got from the graveyard.
I also noticed in the attract screen mode that projectiles are immune from the effect of gravity. You see someone shoot a projectile and it keeps going straight until it eventually disappears. I guess physics just takes too long to program.

i found out a long time ago, but i never knew that with blaze. i basically found out after playing da 12 hours in a row and was about to fall asleep, so i left the screen on, and i was just dazing at it, when suddenly kitana comes and i was like wow! yeah they should have ordered the things u unlocked, so u don't have to search and search for what u want to see or never saw before. just recently i found something in extras i haven't seen before, and i can bet it's over 5 months old now

Would have been better if everyone had a kata not just Blaze, Quan Chi, Kitana, Scorpion and Frost. and to be able to access them through the kontent menu, Maybe in MK6?

I pretty sure its alot easier to do some Motion capture for the Kata's than it is to make a decent CGI movie.
Isnt this supposed to be in the MKDA forum?

Geez, I've been a member since MKDA was just a pic of Scorpion and Jax looking at each other and I have less than 2,000 visits. I should really log in more...

Yeah I've saw these videos or whatever u wanna call them, and sometimes when I finish the game I get a show of Kitana doing her moves instead of Kenshi. But Quan Chi/Scorpion have always been if I was doing something else and left the game running.

I COMPLETELY agree with Grimm.
I think that the MK series can't keep falling back on still-frame animation endings for the single player mode, as it cheapens the experience, and really isn't worth the effort made to earn them.
I'd love them to either trade out the katas for ending videos, or make ending vids AND put the katas in the Krypt for you to enjoy.

The exebitions are cool, but I wish they took all the time they used to make them on making more spectacular endings for the characters

Okay, I've seen these too, and they're being made to sound way more extravagent here then they actually are.
Ya'know the animation that plays of Kenshi in the background as the end credits run after you beat the game, that's basically what these are, but with different characters. Just a minute or two of them dancing around doing some Tai Chi.
Now, as such, I think it's unfair to assume that the same amount of work it would have taken to make FMV endings should have been used in favor of these, because frankly, it's not the same amount of work.
These are just short animations using the pre-existing game models. All these require is for the actual motion capture person, who they already had in studio anyway to do the moves, to do Tai Chi for two minutes, then taking Kitana's model and programming it to follow those movements.
FMV endings, having stories and all, would require storyboarding, which involves planning of shots and camera angles, and a whole lot of extra man-hours to draw said storyboards. They would also require voice-recording for the dialogue of each of the individual 23 characters. They would also require a hell of alot more animation, as fmvs often do. Just look at the intros. Much more polished character animation, which takes much more time. *Hint Hint* That's why the intro is the only fmv.
So even though each individual movie amounts to the same relative time in the end, 2-3 mins, it's very unfair to assume that the same amount of work, and thus time, would go into 2-3 short ingame model exhibitions, as would the amount that goes into 23 fmv endings.
PS. Incase you hadn't realized, I'm one of the people who likes the endings the way they are. They're much clearer this way, and provide more story content. The endings in MK4 were just a garbled and confusing mess. I for one, sure as hell don't want another Reiko-Kahn debate on our hands.
