This is hard to do, to be a staff member of a site that supports this game and have to put in a gripe about it, but I'm not seeing ANY major gameplay changes from the last game. Remove the taunts and stuff and put in combo breakers, ok, that's fine. But is that ALL they did??
I'm seeing the game still has the same problems as it did before. There's not enough horizontal attacks for the styles, some styles don't have any real quick attacks, but that's not the major issue.
The major issue is the block dealy. Just like MK:DA, you have to wait for an attack to be over, AND your character has to go back into their normal stance, THEN you have to wait an additional half second for the character to go into blocking stance. You see what that means don't you? It means that ANY attack, even the quickest ones, only have to be blocked, and your opponent can take advantage of that delay, though small, to pummel you. Give it a try with some characters. Do an attack, then quickly hold block, and watch how it delays and how long it takes to recover into the block. Then have someone attempt to use that window to hurt you. Let them block your attack, then quckly have them combo you in the time between the attack's connection and when you get into block. It does work, and it's very concerning.
I'm also not liking how you have to hold down-back or down-forward to block crouching, as pressing down while holding block makes you walk down, releasing your block stance and making you open. Shouldn't the block take precedence over the crouch?

This is very true. My friend has come over the last 3 night playing me in Deception, and for Christs sake I thought the controller was broken, but no. It takes forever to initiate blocking, and he beat me four times (out of around 40), which still pissed me off. I agree that this blocking system could have been improved upon.

Learn to side step and you'll be fine. Attack attack attack, side step, and they won't be able to counter so much.
The block delay is there for the player to counter combos. If it wasn't there, people would never be able to kill anyone because Player 1 would do a combo and initiate block until player 2 tires, then do the combo again, rinse and repeat until game ends.
I don't mind the block delay, I use side step or do a back flip after all my combos and I don't have much problems.
