Bo Rai Cho: Why the hate?

0
i think Bo Rai Cho is a pretty cool fighter and has some good combos..so i aint got no problem with him. i say keep him in future installments of mk games.
Bo Rai Cho might sound decent enough on paper - he's Liu Kang's mentor and whatnot - but IMO, the actual character is horrible. He's an extremely poor attempt at some kind of slapstick/preschooler fart humour that has no place whatsoever in MK. I don't dislike him simply because he's fat, or because he's ugly, or because he uses drunken boxing... I just find his whole farting/puking gimmick mind-numbingly stupid (far more so than ghetto Jax), and there's really nothing that can make me like him.

At least Bo Rai Cho is not another color clone of another Damn ninja, at least to me he's more original that any of them.

Agreed.

About Me
Really puts things into perspective, when a teenager pop singer turns out to be the re-incarnation of a german warlord.

i dont hate bo rai cho for the fart jokes and puking, i just hate him because his fighting styles are so sluggish.

Yeah but originality is shunned if the original character in question isn't "cool" or "badass", despite how generally boring said "badass" tends to be. It's what I tend to call "Iori Syndrome".

Actually I'd think he'd be a favorite for online play then, getting your ass kicked by someone playing him should be excellent humiliation, especially with the fart fatality...

Fart fatality + online = ultimate humiliation
Saying that Liu Knag was trained by Bo Rai Cho is about like saying Bruce Lee was trained by Chris Farley. By turning the teacher of Earth's greatest champion into a lame ass joke they've ruined the whole sense of honor and discipline that went with Liu Kang. Liu Kang is a dead serious warrior fighting for the fate of the world, not a student of the Three Stooges.
And anyone old enough to buy MKD who finds him funny probably doesn't even have the intelligence to turn on a Playstation let alone play the game. Grow up Boon the game is rated M for mature not I for immature or idiotic.
Oh... and nothing against fat people, but fat people= horrible fighters.

I think Bo' Rai Cho was/is intended to be sort of like Yoda from Star Wars. When you first see him he seems very goofy and ffolish but then you realize he's really a wise master of combat.
How successful the creaters were at conveying that id debatable.
I personally don't care about Bo' Rai Cho. I find him pretty good to use, although he isn't one of my favorites. His presence in the games doesn't bother that much.
But, even though I don't hate him there are many characters, from Deadly Alliance alone, that I would've rather seen return than Bo' Rai Cho.

Yeah, well... i just plain don't like him cause he's fat.
That's right, I said it.
I have nothing against fat people in general.
But if I'm in a fight to the death, I wan't a fighter whose in
better shape than Bo Rai Cho. Plus he's a raging alcoholic.
Another quality not good for a Mortal Kombat tournament.
That's why he's a teacher. I'm surprised he doesn't eat his
opponent for his fatality.... Fat Bastard

I think Bo Rai Cho is one of the worst character additions ever made to mortal kombat, also THEY KEPT HIM IN FOR DECEPTION. Now will someone please explain to me we he deserves to be in the game but not Fujin or Kitana. I think this was a bad decision on midway's part.......unless of course they're already hidden in the game somewhere, which would make this game even better than it is.

I dont understand why anyone wouldn't see a large canister of about 4 or 5 gallons of alcohol on someones back alone to be "Mortal Kombat."
He's not necessarily meant to be in Mortal Kombat in the first place but it shows you how it can draw in oddball characters. I think he's cool, with his fur and medallion and such. Oh yea.. and his giant tank of alcohol that he swigs on, I mentioned that right?
